    If there's a car coming from the other direction at that moment the headline is probably "Tiger Woods Under Investigation for Manslaughter in Accident that Killed <insert number of people>" as opposed to "Golfers Dress up like Tiger in Show of Support."

    Accidently pressing the accelerator instead of the brake on cars a driver is not used to driving is a thing.

    I'm not sure why he would let the evidence be released. he gains nothing from it, unless he thinks it better to be seen as breaking the speed limit rather than the suspicion he was on drugs. It's really a lose situation because he was getting a decent amount of pity up to this point. And a lot of that will evaporate with the release.
