Ticketmaster was better than this crap. Rockets charge outrageous fees for tickets

I bought a ticket package last year.

I was in the process of purchasing a ticket package this year.

It was obvious from the dozen phone calls i received from ticket sales reps that everything was screwy this year: deadlines were all incorrect and delayed.

I actually put a transaction through on my ccard deposit but it never showed up. The rep never called me back. Weeks later while I was a thousand miles away on vacation another rep called me pitching me from step one, even though I already attempted to buy. I was hoping that had my seats reserved already. And this was already past the public sales date. I was pissed but kept it to myself.

I did not feel confident putting my money in their hands. Something changed from last year. It's probably the new arena and all these new issues.

I'm not going to Rockets games this year.

Hopefully, things will be fixed by next year and if I'm still in the area I could make it to some.

Although going throught the normal channels to get Rockets tickets can cost more, I've personally found another channel to get them without paying the dumb fees.

For those not in the know, there are actually a group of Duke Energy traders who get together and buy a bunch of Rockets tickets bulk. They then resell these tickets on eBay. Just go to the eBay to look for tickets you want. These guys will also happily meet you anywhere (except the bad hoods) in Houston and hand deliver them to you.

As for parking, I just park at the old Chinatown across 59. Most Houstonians can certainly use the little extra exercise (me included).

    There ya go, problem solved.

2 Tickets to the Rockets game - 40 dollars.
Shipping and Handling Charge - 3.5 dollars.
    Convenience Charges - 8 dollars.
Parking fee in the garage - 15 dollars.
Overpriced Beer at the Arean - 2 dollars.

The feeling of getting fu*k in the a$$ by Les, and watching the team loose - Priceless.

That fee was a buck PER TICKET! If you went alone or with one other person it was great. If you piled some friends into your car, parking cost about 4 or 5 bucks. Also, parking WAS more expensive if you parked in a close VIP lot. There was still a pretty good hike from the normal lots (really far if you arrived late). The walk from a $5 lot won't be any farther then it was from the normal lots in the summit.

I remember people used to b**** and moan about the parking fee at the summit! Why is it included? What if I don't drive? What if my dad drops me off? On and on it went. Now that's good and this sucks?

Parking for the Astros is terrific! It's cheap or free if you are willing to walk a few blocks and there's even an electricity in the air on the way to the park (which, btw, Houston NEVER had before). It will be the same for the Rockets. Easy to park, cheap relative to other stadiums, electicity in the air as you walk to the Center and easy to get out of. Personally I think it will be way better then the traffic nightmare you had to deal with at the Summit.

Doesn't this actually mean that only the people sitting in the boxes and in the club seats are paying for the parking garage.

I'm sure they are paying the parking...its just in the ticket price.

I also called my local team, the Raptors, for a comparison. The ticketmaster angle has already been covered...ie it's cheaper to buy with ticketmaster than through this 'money saving' method...

...but I asked about this policy of limiting the number of tickets you can buy after having purchased packages...and the Raptors' representative that I asked this thought I was a little odd.

Not that she might not have a point in general, but in this case, when I asked whether there would ever be any limitation for purchasing tickets, after buying packages, whatever...after she got over her ( understandable) confusion as to why I would concieve that there would be, told me : " The only circumstances which would ever limit the number of tickets we would sell to a fan would be if there were no more left to sell."

I told her about what's happening in Houston, and she didn't get it either...

If the beer at the arena will be anything like the baseball games, here's a funny story...

Got free tickets to an Astros game once. Since ticks were free I thought I'd buy a beer. Waited in line with a $5 bill. got a Miller Geniuine Draft. Man says, "That'll be $5.25." I was stunned that my $5 was not enough for one beer.

I betcha beer at the new stadium will be $5.50 each. You people should be prepared for that.

And what make you think they care about the convenience charges when they spend 25,000.00 on season suites and don't even go to every game?

While the ticket "convenience charges" get on my nerves, the parking fee isnt that bad. Granted, I hate payin for parkin but payin is standard almost everywhere. Every sportin event u go too, ie: texans or astros games, u always pay for parking......compaq just included the charges in the ticket. Not that big a deal......but dont get me started on those fees......

One more question, wus w/ not writin out Les, is his name copyrighted or something. I keep seein all this Le$......

Good work Junkyard! This sort of rip off disgusts me. Ticketmaster is one thing ... but for the Rockets to do it themselves is much worse.

so does this thread contain the highest number of the phrase "ass raped" in bbs history?

the parking thing doesn't bother me at all. i like the way it works for astros games, easy to get in, easy to get out, and i assume it will be similar for the toyota center. however i do have a problem with there being a big-ass parking garage that only the super-rich get a piece of. that thing should be first come first serve.

JYD nice work. That does prove it then. Even with will call we can't get a good overall price. What is up with that?! I don't know how many games i am going to go to this year, but their outrageous add on fees are making my # of attended games this year shrink.

I can get a better view of the game for free on my tv. I would love to attend games, there is nothing more fun than being there yelling at the players.

BUT, having to nearly double the cost of my nosebleed seats because of the Rocket's "Convenience Charges" I am going to have to step down from my post of being one of the rowdiest fans in the arena. $17.50 for my freaken $10 tickets?!

Let's not forget about parking too, unless you're lucky enough to find a free space. Sure we still "technically" paid for it at Compaq, but at least then it was included in the convenience charge of the ticket. So now, ticket plus handling plus convenience charge plus parking. Well that comes out to AT LEAST 22.50 to get in the door...FOR A 10 DOLLAR TICKET!!!
