Branden Roy has stepped into the upper echelon of SG this year. This is his third year in the league--the time usually when great players start to dominate. Roy is already a great player. However, Roy is also the only legit star on this Blazers team. Lamarcus Aldrige is their second best player but he is inconsistent and sometimes soft. Oden is still learning the game and not yet an impact player. The rest of their players are role players. This is why the Blazers are still my pick to fall out from the playoffs picture at the end of the year despite of their depth.
He is young, his future is promising. I think Roy is below Kobe because he hasn't got the ring, but I believe he will make it..
Roy has rubbed off on the team. They are mentally prepared for close 4Q games and their confidence is growing. Oden is looking less tentative with each game. This is the team you dont want to play in the first round.
Right. I just mean he was hitting a lot of pull-ups and three's that i'm not used to seeing. Granted, his ability to slash and blow by you is the reason they had to sag off a bit, but on a night like this where everything is clicking the opponent is screwed regardless.
The Blazers are still too young and inexperienced I think to make a whole lotta noise right now, but they are close.
1. I knew that but if we would have lost just 1 more game...we would possibly landed the 6th which would be Roy 2. Yes everyone knew he was the most NBA ready player but most scouts also said he was good(not great) at everything and other players in the draft had more upside/higher ceiling. Not sure if everybody on earth knew he was gonna be a stud when he was being compared to "Reece Gaines". Roy was a huge steal at #6 compared to the players taken before him. I was a big fan of Roy back when he was at UW. I know what scouts say about him.
