I don't have any recent links on the subject, but I don't think it was just Durant and Green. In fact, I'm not sure either of those two were involved. But several players on that team had a problem with Carlesimo going back to last season. They couldn't stand the guy.
why did they even bother hiring him, if he wasn't going to be given a fair shot? Did they think they were inheriting the new orleans hornets and not the crappy seattle team from last year? =)
He had a fair shot. The reason he got fired is the players were sick and tired of him. It's one thing to lose when you have less talent. It's another when the talent on the team doesn't try because they can't stand the coach. What do you expect an NBA team to do when the coach loses the respect of the players?
http://newsok.com/new-boss-another-loss-for-thunder/article/3324551?custom_click=lead_story_title ...“We played with a lot more energy,” Brooks said. “Our guys are tired right now. That's a good thing. I think they played with the kind of energy our fans can be proud of. “I have to reward our guys for playing hard under tough circumstances. It's not easy (dealing) with what took place. It was a pretty emotional day but our guys came out and responded. We have to hold each other accountable and that's what they did tonight.” The mood inside the Thunder locker room before and after was lighter than at any point during the losing streak, something players attributed to a new voice at the top. Carlesimo's sideline shouting during the game was replaced by Brooks' contemplative stare. “Not taking anything away from P.J., he wanted the best out of us,” said Durant. “But Scott did a great job of giving us a little bit of room for error. Once we messed up he just told us what we needed to do better and told us that play was over. I think that kind of made us feel a little better. We just got to continue to build on it.”...
PJ's career(coaching) is officially over. He should just be an assistant coach somewhere, hell go back to the Spurs. Flip Saunders will get a chance somewhere.
