What a great idea! Let's tank the season less than 15 games into it for an inknown commodity! Not smart.

Does anybody know when the last time Kemp was actually at a training camp for an NBA team was?

Not including any "business" visits to the Jail Blazers camps of course. :p

If the rockets need a fat guy to throw his elbows around . . . i'm available for cheap.

The first crop of his kids are probably old enough to play in the NBA . . .

Being that I quote him in my sig, and I'm now quoting him in this thread, some might think I have a man-crush on ye olde thadeus. To those people I say--this post is friggin' SWEET.

Kemp and Rashard Lewis had a nice battle going at the Procity League tonight.

Did he look NBA-ready? If so, he'll be as serviceable as any PF on the team.

He still has some of his athleticism and his jumper was decent. Is he NBA ready? Its honestly hard to tell. He has lost some of his lateral quickness but he is still a good shot blocker.

some how ppl doesn't mentin k.cato as a possiility.

i think he played well next to yao that year. he provides a third center and a second power forward( a true one, unlike chuck or novak) and basically some much needed depth in the front court.

whats important is we can get him for cheap...maybe 2mill/yr....or maybe even less...seems like demand for cato is abysmal

if u guys rmb the reason y van grumpy start him a few yrs ago was hes a gd defensive player who complements yao devensively and that can gives us a totally different lineup on the defensive end. plus he can relieve yao of some responsibility to guard gd centers to limit yao's foul.

    lets go get him!!!!

I definitely agree (posted the idea in another thread) but as you stated no one seems to be that interested. Why I have no clue. He's cheap, fills a need, did a pretty solid job when he was doing it, and already knows Van Gundy's system. He's not a "thug" but he can throw some nasty dunks and block shots. Good enough for me.

    Anyone have opinions on it.

I think that might be the issue. I remember that Cato was always talking about his next contract...maybe he wants too much money.

Perhaps he does want alot of money, but from what Ive read there seems to be little to no interest in him so it would seem he'd be cheap. Like I said though I'm not really an expert on the issue. I just wanna see some nasty putback dunks and alley oops from Cato again. Hes not skilled but he has a knack for catchin those backdoor oops. :D

How's this for a rule of thumb:

Let's not sign any players, or think about signing any players, if they were in the NBA before the Berlin Wall came down.

I thinks Kemp is in a jail right now for the illegal drugs.
