Maybe. Most people, not just NBA players, do take into account what the parameters of a job will be (location, opportunity, etc) when making a career decision. In any case the lack of state income tax in Texas makes the Houston offer a better deal. If Orlando or Miami (2 contenders with no state tax) had been able to offer Scola the same contract, it would have been very hard for him to say no. We should trade Scola not b/c he is declining, but b/c he doesn't fit our rebuilding window.
i agree on patterson though, I hate to get rid of Scola, but if the trade is sweet enough he is definitely one of the one real 'assets' we have and the one I feel it makes the most sense to move due to age and length of contract.
Thompson? More like Whiteside. The Rockets need to get as many players at the 5 as possible and make it a dog fight to be the starter. And if Chuck Hayes comes out on top so be it.
Do you guys think the bobcats would bite on this? Scola, T-will, Bud, and #23 for Tyrus Thomas, #9, 2012 draft pick, and Livingston (exp. contract).
There really isn't a rtight or wrong answer to this in my opinion. Keep Scola because of his heart, hustle and ability to score the ball is seemingly a no-brainer. The guy works so hard for the team and is such a likeable teammate for the others to have around. On the other hand, it really depends on what the vision of the franchise is, i know McHale has come out and said it is playoffs or bust, and it's on him if we don't make it, but if we finished as a 7-8 seed with guys like Patterson, Hill, T-Will and even Thabeet etc getting very little PT then we are probably not moving in the right direction. If we do trade Scola (which i don't think we will) I am hopeful he winds up on a team who will be contending for a title.
can somebody tell me why they want to get rid of him. hes good at posting up against people and gets good amount of rebounds
Scola/ Bud/ future 1st to Bobcats for #9 #9 Singleton #14 Motiejunas # 19 Vucevic #23 Tyler Adds size, improves defense or trade the picks for Kanter.
i think its completely horrific to me how some ppl on this website are undervaluing scola and talking about him as if he is as good as gone... dont get me wrong gasol is probably a slightly better player.. but for the rockets scola is better. Why? bc he bleeds rocket red and he is happy here and dont forget the fact that he is probably the best player on our team. He leads by example has the best attitude towards the game of any player i have ever seen. Trade martin, who seems to not be looking so good, but keep scola always keep scola. He is a keeper i dont give a crap who else you bring in. You find a way to keep scola. His attitude and the energy he gives off are priceless.... PRICELESS. No one else has that.
This isn't a pep rally. It really doesn't matter who the most gleeful player on the team is. We do what it takes to win, and that's why we traded him last week.
the trade would not have made us a better team. Gasol would have been unhappy and unmotivated and getting older. While Scola ages like whine
Business sence. Trade the old man in the suites that greets every1 ... If it was up to me. Anything to get better. Kold-blooded
