I can't believe some of y'all saying this show is worth it. I watched it from the pilot to end with zero binge watching. Complete waste of six years. The writers had no end game planned when they wrote the first season and they just wrote themselves into a corner and ultimately never answer ANY of the show's central mysteries. It's basically was a 6 year long con. COMPLETE waste of time. I HATE that the creators afterwards try to sell it as, "Oh you missed the point of the show! You have to have FAITH not SCIENCE and have EVERYTHING EXPLAINED to you!". FCK OFF Lindelof.
i watched 3 and 1/2 seasons of it and forced myself to get that far, it started off really good and then it got ridiculous, before watching it i always assumed it was a dramatic interpretation of gilligan's island, after watching that much of it it was exactly that except no guest appearances from the globe trotters
At the time, the best show I had ever watched. Looking back on it, it's clear the writers were making **** up as they went along. I kinda feel silly for investing so much time on that show.
Are you sure you watched the show? They left TONS of questions and mysteries unanswered, some of which were played up to be extremely important to the show and just ended up being forgotten about.
I came here to post the exact same thing you did. So pissed I wasted six years following lost. Repped.
Lost was written based off of the Limp Bizkit cover of a George Michael song...it all makes sense now... looks like I have to go re-watch the whole series
I binge watched Lost during the duration of the final season, and spent the whole time thinking how made I would be if I had wasted 6 years of my life having to suffer between fluff episodes. suckers
This is a great, level-headed post that sums it up very well. OP, Lost starts well but disappoints later. Don't do it.
Here are some of the very best I would recommend. A wide variety in no particular order. Luther Fargo Firefly & Serenity House of Cards Suits The first season of 24 is unlike anything in television history. Vikings Dollhouse: If this show was marketed properly, it could have been a huge hit. I bet there aren't 10 Clutchfans that watched it. Very low ratings but last 2 years. This is just a start from what I can think of right now.
Lol. I am sure. there were imho not that many unanswered questions. Most were adressed. They simply added new questions. That being said there were a couple of questions which i wanted the last episode to answer. But overal 75% of the mysteries were explained. But lets not discus what was adressed in this thread we will spoiler it for the op.
The lack of answers in the end were a big let down, but by then I had already hated the show, due to what now is an apparent Lindelof writing trait - having his characters do incredibly stupid or incredulous things for no reasons. Instead of explaining/revealing the motivations to why or what someone was doing whether it be "the others" on/off zombie behavior, the diesease, conducting research, abduct babies, not reveal very important and pertinent information to their friends, comrades or fellow castaways, the show just moved from one new unexplained course of action to another the next season. After a couple season, the unexplained actions of the seasons before are totally forgotten or so the writers hoped. Love is a good show if you don't want things to make any sense or if you aren't really a big stickler for continuity, reason or rationale. The production values was tremendous, probably still one of the best ever. The flashbacks/nonlinear storytelling were extremely well done, new and except for the story of how Jack got his tramp stamp, very interesting.
Looks like we have a lot of people here who need everything clearly spelled out for them and neatly tied up in a little bow before they can enjoy something. I do agree that it might be better to have other people to bounce theories off of while watching the show. So maybe find a friend to watch it with who hasn't seen it. Maybe better, pull up the Lost thread from this forum and watch the show while following along with that thread. That may be cool. To say Lost isn't worth watching is a complete joke. It's a different experience from any other TV show there has ever been, I would venture to say.
SPOILER QUESTION, IF YOU PLAN TO WATCH, ITS BEST TO LEAVE THIS THREAD FOR GOOD. I'LL ONLY PUT THIS SPOILER TAG ONCE. Spoiler Just finished the ending....wth? Can someone explain what exactly happened at the church? Everyone died? I thought the ending was so confusing. I wish they continued the direction of season 1-3 rather than introducing weird elements into the show such as time traveling.[/spoilers]
Spoiler The last season explored the lives they created for themselves after death which reflected how they lived in life. Once they were ready they realized the truth and moved on. Most of them meant someone they loved and it reminded them of the thing in their life that they loved the most and made them feel most alive. The point is that everyone dies eventually. Some of the people in the church died during the show, some died long after they left. Hurley probably lived the longest since he was the protector of the island. Time is not exactly linear in the after life. They all shared such extreme experiences with one another and formed such intense bonds that they wanted to wait until they were all ready to move on to whatever was next. Jack was the last to come to terms with everything. I thought it was really cool. I think they explained most of the things that I wanted explained. The idea that they "didn't explain anything" is not really accurate. What were the central mysteries that they didn't answer?
