I think the reason the news about the Pats rejecting a 2nd rounder got leaked is probably because the Texans offered their 3rd rounder and the Pats want to try to get the Texans 2nd rounder for Mallett.

Why? I thought you wanted them to pick a QB.

If Bill O'Brien thinks Bortles is the best QB in the draft, who are you to disagree?

I mean, I would disagree as well, but wouldn't you have to give him the benefit of the doubt?

To explain further, I think it would be a terrible mistake to reach on a QB in the first round because there aren't any QB's worthy of the top pick, however, if BOB decides otherwise I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and then once whichever QB he picked ended up being nothing special I'd ask that he be run out of town.

So we won't have a 2nd round pick after possible trade for mallett that's big but this draft has been called deep so....

Draft Clowney and trade for Mallet. Maybe a third and next years five depending on if we make the playoffs

So called experts are wrong all the time. Casserly and Capers thought David Carr was the best player in the draft. We saw how that turned out.

With all the big talk O'Brien gave about off the field character when it comes to being the face of a franchise, being a good person in the community, etc. He would be an awfully big hypocrite to trade for a quarterback with known cocaine use. And I don't see that flying with McNair when they just kicked a rookie 3rd round pick and others off the team for smoking weed (probably more so for when and where they were smoking it though).

I think Mallet could possibly be a good option... I'm not sure, but I don't see the Texans trading for him.

No, they didn't, they thought he was the best QB in the draft, everyone knew the best player in the draft was Julius Peppers, but they reached for a QB instead.....you know, exactly like this year.

I think I recall casserly saying Carr was the best player in the draft. They all were wrong because Ed Reed turned out to be best player in that draft.

Sure, that's what he said, to justify the pick, but there was a ton of "To win, you have to have a good quarterback" quotes going around at the time if you remember. No one thought Carr was the best overall pick in the draft, but most thought he was the best QB. Sound familiar?

Think of it this way, the first time around they picked a QB instead of the amazing defensive player and they ended up having the first pick in the draft again 4 years later. The second time around they took the defensive player and eventually made the playoffs before having the number one pick again 8 years later.

If you want to reach on a QB, that's fine, but we'll be back drafting at the beginning before long.

I think Teddy B will put us over the top.

Waldman put him on Joe Montana spectrum.

Matt Waldman is pretty spot on with that comparison.

I'd take a Baby Montana in a NY minute

So let's get this straight, first the Teddy comparison was Alex Smith, then it was "a taller Russell Wilson", then it was Aaron Rodgers, now it's Joe Montana.....how long before they stop the BS and just compare him to Zeus or Oden? His fan club just keeps ratcheting up the rhetoric.

The only person comparing him to Alex Smith was the crackpot Jeremiah

"A taller Wilson", "Aaron Rodgers" and "Joe Montana" are essentially the same type of qb.
