On that play. The Jazz came back to make a three. On the next play Boki needlesly fouled going going for the ball. Penalty situation, two more points. In the closing minutes he gave away 5 points. I think that qualifies as poor play.
He will be a good player, i wish they could keep him, does anyone know when his contract is due, and if so would the rockets keep him, i have heard that he is one of yaos best friends in the team, that could help right?
Boki was the stopper last night. See JVG bring him in for defense and then put Pike in for offense late in the game? At 6'10" I think he is an option to defend the "outside" type 4s in the league - Dirk, Webber, AK47, Rasheed Wallace, Radmanovic... He should do better than Cato at guarding these guys IMO.
Boki's doing a good job in what I consider his first year of playing time. He can pretty much spot up and hope for a pass and shoot or take his man off the dribble. I mean thats really about it. He's certainly not gonna play the euro style he's used to and cut and move and go back door and swirve and slash through defenses while he's playing with Francis, Moochie, Mobley and Taylor. I don't want to make excuses for the guy but his offensive production potential is pretty limited whiles he's out there with those guys.
If Boki had a good outside shot, he'd be playing way more. JJ didn't play against the Jazz, but Boki still got only 16 minutes. Some of it was due to bad fouls, but the bricks from outside didn't help his case. I think he has a lot of potential due to his speed. He seems to get to the basket with ease. If he can get a decent jump shot going, he can fake a shot and get to the basket for easy layups.
i think boki could be a very solid player. you can tell that he has the talent to be good, however, many times on the floor he looks like he needs reassurance that he belongs there. i think if boki gains the confidence he needs, he will end up playing very well.
Well... Boki is OK, I guess. I don't have stats with me right now, but from watching the games, he misses lots of threes and sometimes gives up layups on defense. However, occassionally he makes some good things happen, but overall the one word I'd use to describe him is very unpolished (that was two words i know). He's no Ginobli, but should develop into a Vladmir Radmanovich type player... maybe a little better?
If he works hard over the next couple of years and our team stays healthy, he'll stay off the IR and be the 12th man. I don't see a resigning in his future.
In Italy he played in Treviso..... He was a good player but not a star player like Ginobili and Jaric (who played togheter in Bologna team) I think that Boki will be a good trade in addiction of Francis for TMac ?
You know, we gathered your opinion after your first post in this thread. Let me ask: 1. Are you trolling? 2. Do you think that any of your subsequent posts have added anything to the oriignal (and if so, please explain what)? 3. Do you just want a higher post count? Please let me know which, because I don't see much of a point in just spewing anti-Boki posts that are completely redundant. On the subject of Boki: Tries hard. Good slashing instincts. Shot isn't terrible, but very inconsistent. Plays much better defense than I expected. We were given the impression that his matador defense was the only thing keeping him off the court last year. But it's hard to believe it could ever have been that bad, given it's level now. Given his age, and his lack of much experience at all... he could be valuable, in time. He's not now, but he does some good things.
I agree with everything you said, especially his surprising defense. The guy shut down Carmello Anthony. He gets to the basket efficiently, and he can shoot. He just hasn't gotten comfortable yet with the NBA three. To me, talent-wise, he's definitely the best three on the team factoring in potential.
First of all, I know Boki's bro reads this forum so I'll apologize for some of those cruel and unthought-out posts about him. I think he's a good player that's not giving alot of pt, hence the low confidence. I'm glad to see him start against the jazz and hope to see that more often. It'll raise his confidence. K.Yakko P.S. I hope that Wallace dunk pisses him off. He needs a big glass of vindication.
Well, just from a fan's stand point (this fan, anyway), I'll admit to being a Boki fan ever since the thank you note he wrote to the Rockets. As it stands now, I'm encouraged. Last year was basically a lost year, as he really didn't seem ready for the NBA but since he was a high draft pick there may have been some pressure to have him on the team and not back in Europe (pure conjecture on my part I know). as a result he basically got a year of practice but no real transition period to NBA ball. This year it seems like he believes that he belongs in the league and is going to go out and bust his ass when he gets a chance. Unfortunately, this can lead to some silly fouls and turnovers when he tries to do too much. Still his shot shows promise, he moves pretty well, and he seems pretty fearless around the hoop. Also, I kinda like the posterizing he seems to get occassionally ('Sheed, that one early in the year when someone dunked over him). It shows that he's not willing to just give up on the play and is going to challenge anything and everything he can. I'm kind of afraid that Pike's return will limit Boki's court time (especially if Pike keeps shooting well) but I hope that he doesn't get discouraged, keeps working hard, and develops into a solid NBA player.
It was more of a cap thing for the Blazers since Wesley's contract will expire after this season or so.
I agree with everything haven said. Boki is going to be the starting SF on this team some day IMO unless we luck into someone really special. Boki has played very good defense this year. Of course he will have an off game from time to time. Boki's offense is just about as consistent as JJ's plus he has shown that he can shoot the 3 with some consistancy, 39% is pretty damn decent. Mostly he does look like a very athletic Rookie which is basically what he is. He comes with good hieght for a small forward and has veru good hops plus he can block shots. So why has Boki lost his minutes since Pike has come back? I think JVG has done what Rudy talked about most of last year, created an 8 man rotation. And what has been one of JVG's biggest concerns this year? Outside shooting. Who is one of the best outside shooters in the NBA and probably the best on the team? Pike. Is JVG willing to start basically a rookie at the 3 when he has a proven player like JJ? Hell no. If JJ gets hurt or can't start for some reason then I think we still see Boki in the starting line-up but I don't think we will see him in part of the normal 8 man rotation for very logical reasons. Just like I don't think we will see Alton Ford, Adrian Griffin, Eddie Griffin (if he ever comes back), Mike Wilkes or Scott Padgett in the normal rotation, these guys are going to be reserved for blow outs, injury replacements and foul troubles. IMO the team will benifit from a rigid 8 man rotation: Yao, Cato and MoT in the Center and Power Forward positions with Pike, JJ, Steve, Cat and Moochie in the small forward and guard positions. I don't think this is a reflection of Boki's talent or future on the Rockets.
