I was at the game last night and here are my thoughts. KT had a huge game. He blocked DC's J twice (it would help DC if he would actually get off the ground while taking his J ) KT also scored two huge baskets during money time in the fourth period. Both times he took DC off of the dribble for a lay up. The first time he caught Dikembe Mutombo sleeping. The second time DM tried for the block but failed. Big points for KT taking it to DM. Both Steve and Cat did not drive the lane and dish as much as previous games. They must have been apprehensive about DM shot blocking prowess. Cat also missed two easy 10' Js in money time. It looked like Cat was not sure he was far enough away from DM on both of the pull up Js. These are shots he usually makes. Cato took a wicked butt from DC in the fourth period and went down hard. I thought we had lost him for the season EG had real problems guarding DC, which lead to his limited minutes. DC at 275+ lbs. had his way with the lighter EG. Like I said previously EG has got to add another 15 lbs before he can even think about guarding the bigger NBA 4s. As an aside, it looks like Rudy is giving Cato the green light to shoot. If you were at the game and heard somebody screaming "Nooooooooooo!" whenever Cato took his J that would have been me. As a second aside, Jay Rocket must die Somebody needs to put him out of my misery
I'm with glynch and Live. I did something last night that I've never, ever done when watching a Rockets game, I channel-flipped during a commercial and never went back. To say that the the Rockets play wild, undisciplined basketball is to shortchange the words wild and undisciplined. I watched "A Few Good Men" for the umpteenth time and found it more entertaining. " You want me on that wall! You need me on that wall..."
ahh...at least mention the two face up blocks he had on Coleman. I don't get it. Had Griffin made those two blocks this bbs would be all over that. But we don't even see the Kenny blocks. 4 Blocks and 3 steals is a good game, not to mention the scores of accollades again about his defense....including from Coleman.
...and you gave us more than two sentences. Man, this is the first paragraph that i've seen from grummett in a long time. more...more...! btw: I thought Claxton really gave Francis fits with his defensive speed, staying in front of Francis and not letting him turn the corner, and that made it so Francis couldn't make the game look easy and less wild like in other games. Francis is doing great on limiting the wildness. What worries me is that last comment by glynch that took Mobley out of the game. Mobley seemed to get frustrated with having to pass all night long, then tried to turn on the switch in the 4th...and missed those two open 3s from the left corner...then started forcing it. imo, this isn't an ugly game as much as a scary game. We are getting stereotyped to take our guards out of the game. We must answer that defensive attitude. ring...ring..."Calling Mr. Rice!"
My opinion- Steve is NOT a two-guard. Rudy keeps trying to put him at thte two guard when Moochie comes in to run the point. I realize if RUdy is trying to run the 3 guard offense Steve has got to be in there, but he seems lost playing the two and I almost forget about him. Myswell put a Torres in with Mobley and Moochie and give Steve is rest then - instead of a few minutes later during the middle of the fourth.
Crispee I've only got one word to describe Glen Rice getting on a potential offensive roll. CARNAGE. When that eventually happens this rocket team will be a nightmare for their opponents.
This was my 2nd game i got to watch this season, and a couple things had me yelling at the TV. 1. Stupid fouls. Why foul Mutombo when he is trying to score? He would get the ball, then Cato or someone would foul him on the shot. 2. Why do we have so much trouble getting across the timeline against a trap? Steve and Cat seem to take their time, hesitating before passing, etc. We almost committed 8 second violations on 2 consecutive possessions. Seems like our awesome guards could handle this better. 3. Why is our offense so stagnant? Right after Steve crossed half court, he would stand there dribbling for like 10 seconds. The camera would be focused on him, so i couldn't see if our guys were even moving. 4. Moochie looked like crap. Couldnt make a shot, and didnt really accomplish anything. I think it's stupid to have moochie pound the ball into the floor while Francis looks on as a 2 guard. 5. Why does Chuck say things like "the clippers will make the playoffs" then not even mention the rockets? Does he mean the clippers will make it in and the rockets won't? It annoys me when our own guys won't even go out on a limb to predict that the rockets will make the playoffs. Overall, i am very glad we won. I like Kevin Harlan even more now because he constantly goes out of his way to say nice things about our team. I just wish we could have played a little better on national TV. Yesterday I told all my friends to watch the Rockets beat down the Sixers, but this morning i felt obligated to apologize to them for telling them to watch such an ugly game. Oh well, a win is a win.
