I dont like Howard as the professional I see off the court, but I like championships. If Howard is willing to sign in Houston this Summer AND TAKE 30 MIL GUARANTEED LESS to sign here, you must sign him.

Let's see here. L.A. was a near contender last year. This year, they swapped Bynum for Howard and are hardly a .500 team. Let's see - he can't shoot free throws, he has no post up game, and he is getting more and more injury prone with a bad back and bad shoulder. These things do not get better with age, they get worse. You trade a way Asik - who is healthy and at his peak, for a guy with issues and on his decline who could break down at any point ala Yao Ming (but is no where near as dominant) - and you are playing with fire. Maybe it works out. Maybe Howard stays healthy. Maybe he develops a post up game. Maybe he learns to shoot ft's. Maybe he learns to shut up and just play within a system. Maybe you chase someone else.
Anyone who doesn't think Dwight Howard would have a huge positive impact has no understanding of basketball. Period. Guy is the 2nd or 3rd best player in the NBA. Coming off surgery months before expected and still having an impact. Last month or so he's been really good. And he's perfect for our system. He's also missed very few games prior to his back issue; which he played through until it needed surgery. He took a team of scrubs to the finals ala Lebron with the Cavs. Morey would trade Asik, Parsons, Lin, Trob, DMo, and his left nut to get Howard and he'd be right to do so. I can understand if you don't want him cause you like our guys and don't like Dwight. But if you're using basketball reasons as your rationale then I'm really glad you have no impact on running our front office.
He has no offensive game other than the dunk. He can't even shoot free throws. He's a defensive half court player, which isn't even fit for the Rockets team.
And yet he shoots a high percentage, despite not having a good post game? http://espn.go.com/nba/player/stats/_/id/2384/dwight-howard Also, did you see the stuff from the Sloan Analytics conference? Having Dwight Howard on the floor forces the other team to shoot the most mid range jumpers in the NBA. People won't challenge the paint when he's there and end up shooting the worst shots in basketball. Perfect for covering up Harden's defensive liabilities.
he can block shots, and catch the basketball.. cant say the same for Asik If he's available Morey will go after him
I thought we already had the number 1 half court defense with Asik. So tell me how DH improves on number 1? What does Howard give us? A guy who can dunk and probably catch the ball better than Asik. If that's worth paying someone 20 million a year, well great, than go for it. I don't like Howard. He's an underachiever. After all this time in the league and he still has no post-up game? What a waste.
I hope that rockets can get Howard, without given Asik. If we sign him as FA, it is possible, we have to trade Tjones and White contracts An Asik/ howard combo on the floor can be a monster defend, plus both can play with Dmo and Trob Asik/Dmo Howard/Trob Parsons/Delfino Harden/anderson lin/Beverly This team will play agains Miami the Finals
His field goal % is high because most of his shots are layups and dunks. I was talking about his post game in which he doesn't have a high success rate due to this FT shooting and lack of offensive skill. And yet he demands the ball so many times in the post. In terms of defense yes I agree Howard is an elite defensive player. Like I said before I would love Howard on the Lakers if he just didn't demand the ball in the post so many times. Unfortunately his selfishness and self-deluded thinking will make this impossible.
Well, I guess from a basketball theme it's stupid but I like our team how it is. Has a very underdog, good-guy feel to it. I think adding somebody like Dwight would completely ruin that. Idk.
He gets the ball in the post, jumps over the defender, and scores at a high percentage. Has a decent jump hook, mostly because he just is so high nobody can block it. Sure there are more skilled players but what does it matter? That's like having a player who drives to the hole and dunks it. And he does it over and over with the other team unable to stop it. Then you complain he can't shoot.
Asik is almost a zero on offense. That does not mean Howard isn't a 3 at best on offense. Howard really can't do anything on offense but dunk the ball and his free throw shooting is horrible. Morey should not even contemplate signing him.
He's #2 in the NBA in postups. How can you say his post game isn't effective when you see those percentages? You think he gets dunks/layups off broken plays and then is a total scrub when he gets the ball in the post. The guy is amazingly efficient. Can't shoot free throws worth a lick but otherwise his game is amazing.
The only reason you would not sign Howard would be his health. Barring that, you do not want to back out from signing a marquee player such as him. When you talk about a guy carrying a team, you talk about Lebron James and Dwight Howard because their impact is felt when the walk on and off the court. Look at Cleveland/Orlando prior and post those players.
