Portland was the team getting shafted.
I think it was Roy supposedly being medically retired, unable to play. Cost them cap room or cash, or something when Minnesota signed him.

The player and his agent also won't be happy. And the way Hinkie fooled Kirilenko and the situation had to be dragged and get ugly before they finally waived him...Say what you want about Hinkie but things like these will come back bite him in the butt.
    Agents don't forget.

    Good!
Nothing against Hinkie, but he seems good at 'asset gathering', and the fewer of those guys around the better!

It was Portland but I think it was with Darius Miles. Didn't the grizzlies sign him and by him playing his 9M went back on the books. The Blazers were pissed but I remember Miles played decently

The Denver players are all happy though, by claiming him off waivers, it wiped out the salary floor inclusion for Denver so the team gotta pony up.

I'm not necessarily sure that agents are big on hating "more for players, less for teams."

He's actually from my area and grew up here. DC to be exact. The guy had a tragic life. His parents were both dead and his grandma who raised him died just a few years ago. He's the sole care provider of his little sister. Hope a team picks him up.

Kings, to Rockets, to Blazers, to Nuggets, T̶o̶ ̶n̶e̶t̶s̶, To Philly

And we know Philly won't resign him, so he will be going to a new team next year as well.

It will be 6 teams in 5 years for him, damn.

    I don't get why it's rotten OR a trick.

The player was put on waivers. Teams claim players off of waivers all the time, there's no trick involved, and avoiding the salary floor isn't rotten of the Sixers.

They are still paying the money, just paying a salary to TRobinson instead of a cash payout for missing the salary floor. Not sure why anyone should care here.

I agree with this. Robinson may get a chance to play too.

This...there are official waiver rules and Philly just followed. This is a business, just because another team wanted TRob doesn't mean no one can claim him.

LOL the other Philly players might care, as they were all going to split the difference of the floor and the under portion.

But a smart move by Hinkie.

I like the move for the Sixers. I believe they get "early bird rights" which can help retain him this Summer if they want to try and keep him.

I still think he can be a Faried-lite type of player at the very least. Finishing around the rim against taller NBA players will continue to be an issue, but he's got a chance now to expand his game a bit to just being a clean up energy guy. As an energy guy he has some good moments last year with Portland.

Hinkie continues to be the most interesting Gm in the league. Hopefully Philly lets him have another couple years to realize what he's built up there.
