Not an all-star, but he did play in the Rookie game at the all-star break. Those Sonics teams were freaking brutal for us. The Summit was so loud because beating them was almost on the same level as winning the championship.
The fix was in. Remember the next year the Rockets were on the verge of absolutely steamrolling them out of the first round before Barkley got hurt.
Man the crowd was so energetic..ah i miss the Summit days, i can only hope for TC to be like that once we advance this year! Chilcutt
It's amazing to watch the pure dominance our Big 3 portrayed. I remember watching that game (I was 14) and thinking "Chicago, here we come....." and getting my heart ripped out a few days later. The one thing that team has that I'm afraid this team doesn't is tenacity, and mental toughness. With T-Mac out, maybe Artest can regain some of that swagger that the old Rockets teams had in the playoffs, and we can achieve some success this year.
this was the eddie johnson game: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/oDjtkx5nVOk&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/oDjtkx5nVOk&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
wow that crowd was loud! I haven't heard any NBA arena that loud, Houston or otherwise. I don't know if it's the way the Summit was designed, but that game certainly had a college arena feel to it. And LOL at Shawn Kemp drinking a Pepsi before the game! That guy was already letting himself go.
Just listen to how loud the fans were. I've only made the trip out for two games at the Toyota Center but after my experience there and watching them on TV, I think it would be a stretch to say the TC gets half as loud as the Summit did back in those days.
Don't be so depressed, at least we have 2 Championships in which the whole team busted their asses off and got no All-Star calls whatsoever (unlike most Champions in the 90s and 00s). We've had great players, HOFs, great coaches, great comebacks, great seasons etc. We could do a lot worse !! The only thing I do not like is how Houston fans will only show up, so cheering loud after every basket instead of just dunks and streetball moves, during the better times. Remember the 22 game winning streak, Tracy said it's the loudest he ever heard at TC and it wasn't even that great. This was also one of the reasons last year's playoffs sucked, the crowd wasn't into it at all and never provided the spark the Rockets needed. I hope that will change because another playoff series like 2008 I never want to see again, it was so quiet you wouldn't even have known it was a playoff game unless you really followed the Rockets. That makes me sad...
sweet video. everyone on that team knew their job, they shared the ball, they did whatever it took to win the game. thanks for the video
