That is what a "Big 3" is supposed to look like 20 22 24 pts Anyone notice the building was actually loud?
What a great clip. Upset that I was too young to really remember it all (I was six years old then), but I know understand why my dad was so happy.
Listening to the 'Fan Feedback' on 740 after that game, folks were pretty pissed about our 'underachieving' team. Charlie tried to calm the fires: 'we've been to 3 WCF in the last 4 years.' (how's that to put things in perspective?) i don't think anyone could have ever imagined it would be 12 years and counting before we were ever relevant again. by the way, charles played his ass off that series. i'm absolutely convinced we would not have beaten seattle without charles that year, contrary to the claims of detractors of that trade. what this clip doesn't show is the numerous offensive rebounds he grabbed in the 4th to take control of the game. i vividly recall greg gumbell in amazement at our dominance on the glass saying 'they're the shortest team in the NBA.' and charles knew that you take the ball to the basket in game 7.
I don't know if it makes me a bad fan or not but watching those highlights actually depressed me more than anything. Sure, it was nice seeing the Barkley trade payoff (momentarily) by us beating Kemp and the Sonics but that team had so much potential....and the way it all ended. Uggggghhhhhhhh..... Plus, it deprived Hakeem and the Rockets the chance to stick it to MJ's Bulls. I'll forever be haunted by the outcome of that Utah series.
Yeah, I remember that game. We actually almost blew a 3-1 lead, but our big 3 saved us. Eddie's 3 in Game 4 against Utah made me run out the house screaming. And then Stockton's 3 in game 6...still hurts... Closest I felt to playoff excitement since then was game 2 in 2005 when Tmac sunk that shot at the end.
that was awesome, too bad we didn't make the nba finals its sort of a bittersweet symphony (1997-The Verve) but that's life <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Zx3m4e45bTo&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Zx3m4e45bTo&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I thought hte same thing too, but Tinman would have more flair for the dramatic pulling quotes from a random article or magazine 10 years old then blabbering on about the people of faith or some crazy what not.
The corporation money killed the avg fan and rabidness? I make really good money, but I can't see dropping 200 for seats, parking, drinks and everything. Plus its too corporate in most of these building now. Plus the rox haven't put a contender on the floor since then. Houston fans know fraud when they see it.
Tell me about it. I still remember, I was 8 years old. I remember opening my arms really wide while standing thinking that Stockton missed the shot, then I saw the swoosh and I dropped straight to the ground and cried for quite a while. *****in Jazzholes. I can't believe that was the last time we been a relevant team. It's pretty dam depressing.
Man that was some fun basketball to watch. Brings back some awesome memories (followed by some terrible ones...) Can we bring back Rudy T? That was some awesome ball movement.
Wow...this certainly does bring back memories. The crowd nowadays sounds nothing like this at least from what I can hear. The series after that...made me hate the Jazz and I still do seeing as how they just keep beating the Rockets in the playoffs.
