Its about streaks. Remember the Patriots starting off miserably but getting hot at just the right time? How did that end up? The Jets are playing lights out and peaking at the perfect time.

The Jets look eerily similar to the Patriots of last year. I picked the Raiders to win the game, but it would not surprise me one bit to see the Jets advance to the AFC Championship game.

Remember the Oilers starting off the season 1-4 and then won 11 games in a row (or something like that) getting a bye in the first round? Then KC came in to Houston and dominated us. A terrible, terrible day for Houston Oilers' fans. Anyways, it shows the "hot team" or the "better team" doesn't always win. Nothing is assured. I wonder if Houston would still have the Oilers if we had won that game and gotten close to a Super Bowl. who knows what could have happened.

I prefer not to think about such painful memories, seeing as how I was at the Kansas City playoff game and saw Joe Montana work his magic first hand. A man has never sobbed as much as me on that fateful afternoon.

The Oilers led most of the game and were ahead in the 4th quarter against KC and were only behind 1 with less than 5 minutes left. I wouldn't call that being 'dominated'.

    Semantics.

We lost. One of the most heartbreaking losses I have endured in person. I really felt we were winning a Super Bowl that year. Man, I just remember the whole city being so pumped up that year for the Oilers during the streak and before the playoffs...and so deflated afterwards. Simply painful.

As was I and as did I. I really think that the Oilers turned me away from Pro Football just because I was so deeply hurt by them so many years. Ah, so much love, yet so much pain. One day maybe I will come to terms of it after years of therapy ;)

After the Oilers left town, many of my friends seriously told me to consider therapy because they thought I would suffer a mental breakdown at the tender age of 20.

Haha. I can sympathize; I tried to love the Titans just as much, but it just wasn't the same, especially without the columbia blue and the Houston Oilers song.

    At least until next August.

Actually, until April when I go to the draft.

If you want to talk about streaks, How about -

Tennessee winning 10 of their last 11 after starting 1-4

Oakland winning 7 of their last 8 after starting 4-4

I just think the Raiders Defensive Line is just playing too well right now to give Pennington all day to pick us apart. The Jets O-line does not compare to the Raiders. The Jets offense is eerily similar to the Raiders

Pennington and Gannon are both smart QB's who are 1-2 in QB rating, They both are excellent in throwing the short pass. Both have no arm at all when it comes to the deep ball.

The Jets have two polished WR's in Chrebet and Coles, and a rising star in Santana Moss. The Raiders have arguably the two best WR's in NFL history, and a rising star in Jerry Porter. Add Rookie TE Doug Jolley, who has been running free through secondaries as of late because of the attention payed to Rice and Brown.

Charlie Garner and Curtis Martin are two very capable running backs. Garner is the best receiving back in the league. Martin bounced back from an early season injury.
