    What? Choking in the Final Four?

    Absofreakinglutely I would have rooted against Hakeem if he was never a Rocket. I couldn't care less where he was from. I grew up with an OL from the 49ers, played basketball with a center for the Bobcats, but you don't see me rooting for either one of those teams over the team that is actually in Houston.

    You are correct that the party directly affected by the practice of double standard may not be limited to the practitioner John Doe, who is nonetheless a stakeholder of the process/action. That's another fine distinction to bear in mind when it comes to the realization of misuse of the word "hypocrisy."

    The said ref is definitely practicing double standard. However, for him to be accused of a hypocrite, you need to find a preponderance of (if not possibly exhaustively all) instances where he condemns every unfair star treatment by other refs, to the effect that he proclaims it's his belief that unfair officiating is dead wrong and should not be condoned.

    Maybe, maybe no. :D
