I don't get it why give a second round to get rid of him and not just release him. The Rox will have no draft next year

Because if they just release him they still owe his guaranteed contract and are over the Lux tax....if they trade him, he is on Memphis books, even though as part of the trade the Rockets give them the money to pay off Francis contract.

    Weird huh?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Steve play in Europe.

    hmm damn thats even worse

what if its one of those he gets waived and the rockets resign at the vet min for the rest of the year?

les would still but under the tax, it bring in the possibility of signing deke back (if i remember correctly vet mins do not count towards the cap?) and it would cost the rockets a 2nd rounder next year which they essentially got for free anyway.

les opted to spend the 2.4 million to let the grizzlies buy out francis for earning what an additional 7-10 million at the end of the year? profit of about 5 million. not a bad move imo in terms of $ reasons.

of course steve would have to sit out 30 days before resigning with the rockets but after reading Doc Rocket's post I doubt he would resign here I am sure there are other teams out there that would give him a chance on a vet min. I really hope he doesnt sign with a team like the lakers, celtics, mavericks, spurs or jazz though.

I do not think European teams will be interested in him. Recent players that went to Europe are the young and athletic guards.

I remember seeing Francis suited up and on the bench at the T-Wolves game. He even participated in free throw drills and was the first guy up cheering on the Rockets.

The only way it might be good for him is as a wake-up call that he needs to retire, if he didn't know it already. It will be harder for him to get any playing time in Memphis than it was in Houston.

Are you trying to say that the reason the Rockets paid someone to take Francis was that Rick Adelman wouldn't give him any time? Is that really what you think?

I think it's hilarious that we have people here who think Memphis would consider playing Steve Francis at the expense of their gluttony of young point guards. You are kidding yourselves if you think they were in this for anything other than that 2nd rounder.

Hey, don't worry about it. I can't see those teams being interested in him in any way. For the most part, I doubt it very much that if he managed to wind up with one of those teams, his PT would be pretty much nonexistent like it was with the Rockets this season.

They raped the Rockets in this deal...got their early 2nd rounder back in '09, had Francis's salary paid for by Rockets, and gave up a conditional 2nd round pick in 2011.....if the conditions are that Francis has to play for them, then they probably get that back too.

It reminds me of the Glen Rice to Utah trade...

Don't be surprised if the Grizzlies buy him out and he tries 2 come back to The Rockets after 30 days for the vet. minimum. I'm not a die hard Francis fan but this has been going on lately in the NBA.

Doc Rocket said Steve didn't see it coming but Morey says Steve asked for a trade behind the scenes. So who do you believe?

to all those who are doubting steve will play, steve already said he will play and the griz coach said they were looking for a go to scorer so they are trying francis. Steve will get time when he gets there but if hes doing bad i expect him to be waived as well but at least he will get a chance unlike on the rockets

    Who cares?

What's done is done. And the more important question is how will Morey make the Rockets better through this trade. It was apparent SF3 was dead weight.

Who cares? Who asked you? Francis got traded and you are still a bitter brat. What has changed there? Have a nice Christmas, Ebenezer.

If there is another team out there who would take Francis off the Rockets hands without compensation, don't you think the team would have gone for that trade instead?

Morey said he was negotiating with several teams. Face it: FRANCIS HAS NEGATIVE VALUE.
