I ddon't think that T-mo has the aggressive quality or the 3 point shooting ability required for a starter although he can be a useful backup. Although Francis has been making poor decisions he is not a SG.His shooting is not consistant enough. We have to play him at the PG spot even though he is not a true 1.
We do need players like Avery Johnson,or a Jon Barry/Ron Artest at the guard/forward spots and a tall/ physical PF like Antonio Davis along with Ming,Griffin,Francis and Mobley. However none of these players are available and we have to do our best with the players that we have. Basic fundamental basketball and playing as a team can lead to success otherwise we will miss the playoffs.

If that's the case, then why do you bother to respond to my embarrasingly juvenile posts?

What is your problem? Ming is better and will be much better than SF, everyone knows it. He WAS saying Yao Ming would never be as good as SF, which was exactly your point. If you agree someone, just say I second it. plzzz!

The Rockets is bigger than both. When they win championships then they both will be big.

OK....no doubt yao is good and gonna be great
but he gotta protect the ball and cut down TOs
in the grizz game,,,he had 6 TOs
also,,,,,,he had to put the ball up high so the guards can steal his ball......I remember in WBC he got his ball stolen a few times by Andre miller......and in recent games....by JWill

Do you have any more as long as we're hitting these phenomena at the height of their popularity?

dare i say i agree...i might actually take you off ignore kidrock8.

hawkins especially. he seems to be the only one who will drive into the lane a feed a player in a position that allows them to score.

t-mo i think can find a nice niche in this team similar to hawkins. i see him being a mini-pippen. 8pts, 3 ast, 5 reb, 1 block, 1 steal a night type of guy. he's shown glimpses of this but hasnt had the playing time to be consistant.

people you can't compaire Francis to Yao Ming. They both are and wil be great players. But Francis is a point guard and Yao Ming a center, thats a bi difference.

Yetti i stil would not trade these 2 players. Francis is a great player.miller is good, But the Clippers have alot of talent and stil do not have a above .500 record.

Good post Kidrock, but I could have swore you used to be a Cat fan...maybe another kidrock

    Anyway, here's my take on SF's D:

Not a terrible defender except off the pick, when he always seem confused on whether to go over or under. Some fault may lie to Yao, due to the fact that he doesn't come out on pick and roll, which makes Steve's job that much harder. However, I think one good way to counter the problem is to have a game plan on the day, and decide early which way he's going to go depending on the opposing PG's skill or position of the pick.

Overall, I just hope SF learn from the defensive lapses and be ready to play some D during our championship run in 2004 :D

    Kidrock,

Thread of the Year! Manny and Mr. Clutch. Great posts. Players come and go. Remember at the start of the year, this was the deepest Rox team ever. I saw duplicate parts. Selfish, no D and fundamentally unsound players. Saw Ming this Summer in Indy at least 4 games. I feared that Rudy wouldn't use him smartly. He shot 75% from the floor at WBC! I've been mislabled a Rudy hater, when in fact I'm a Rox lover! Would love the Rox making it to the Playoffs. Not with Rudy. Memphis has won 4 games!? Richard Jefferson had 22-15-7 the other night. Jason Kidd making him better? Rashard Lewis? EG is logging DNP-CD. Rudy&Dawson couldn't part with this guy? It would be nice if Rox guards picked up 94ft. Posters have asked, we can see the problems, why can't Rudy. My point exactly. Players have changed, Rudy and CD have been the constant. Do the math. This is a logical and not an emotional argument.

How can you love the Rockets without loving Rudy T? And yes the Rockets will make the playoffs with Rudy. while the Grizzlies watch from their respective sofas. And is it possible for you to think of a way to get in more cliches per post?

Hi, I’m new here and usually just lurk, but I had to comment on this string.

Uh, its only two losses. Stupid losses agreed, but two losses. The same team that lost to the Clips, and Grizzlies beat San Antonio, Sacramento and Philadelphia. It’s a team that can beat or lose to anybody in the league. I would advise keeping an even keel with this team. Ride the season out. It most likely will be a roller coaster. Probably a frustrating, exciting, frustrating one. This team should make the playoffs. It might even throw a scare into some higher echelon teams when its there, anything else would be above and beyond my expectations. Anything less will be a disappointment. As it is, I’m pretty UNHAPPY about this weekends games, but a 7-3ish 8-2ish record over the next ten maybe with an upset of Indiana would help my temperament.

    IMO

    PG
Trade Francis??? Um, you won’t get equivalent talent combined with youth and you’d mess up the team chemistry which is still developing. I like Moochie personality wise, but a veteran assist first, defensive point guard would be nice. (but how many are out there)
    PF
I like KT over Mo Taylor. They both tend to go 1 on 5, but KT rebounds and plays defense. If only KT would pass. Sigh. Definitely agree that a trade for a role player rebounding defensive minded PF would be great.
    SF
I think I would start EG. Play him until he proves he’s not what you want, or you can work a trade to get the PF(see above). I think he complements Ming offensively and defensively. Rice I like off the bench. Don’t really know about TMo or Nacbar.

Why exactly are some of you so high on Nacbar? I guess he can score, but what about defense? I’m not knocking him I’m just wondering.

    SG
I like Mobley. I know he shoots some wild shots and forgets to pass, but I like the fact that teams have to worry about him. That can cause the defense to loosen up on other guys. Watch San Antonio sometimes. Fourth quarter team just lock down on Tim Duncan they don’t even worry about anyone else. Teams really can’t pick one player to shut down on the Rockets and I think Mobley has something to do with that.

    COACH
I’ve had my doubts about Rudy since he took over from Cheney. Several playoff runs and two championships later he’s earned my benefit of the doubt.

In ’93 I think, the Rockets had this great commercial. This guy is sitting on window ledge listening to a rocket game. He’s got a brick tied to his leg with a long rope. The play by play goes something like “Rockets down by two with the ball and three seconds left. Inbound to Olajuwan. Olajuwan to Maxwell. Three seconds, 2 seconds Vernon Maxwell launches an off balanced three and misses!!!” At this point the man pushes the brick off the ledge and waits to be pulled to his death. Just then the announcer comes back “Wait. Maxwell was fouled! He gets three shots” The man looks up with astonishment just as the slack on the rope runs out. I don’t know why, IMO that commercial has always summed up being a Rockets' fan.

    Rockets fan since ‘84

Ditto, ToThomas. Yours is a reasoned, well thought out first post. Thanks for the reminder about that great commercial. It really does sum up our "fair weather" support.
