Sorry, can't get past "who cares about variety". You sound like milk hair. Answer just this question, how did we do in this series? Coin flip? Como si Como sa?
I'm getting a gut wrench feeling you will also say who cares about screens. You see no wrong. I'm pretty sure every nba player has posted up but for a pf, 18% is nothing. If I say Lin doesn't post up you will probably say he posted 8%.
I feel like people get to caught up in results in sports as proof that we will always get that outcome. What if we played Portland in 7 different 7 game series? Do we lose in 6 every time? Do Aldridge and Lillard play so well and Harden play so bad every single series? Sample size is a real thing. And a 6 game sample, where we actually out scored the opponent mind you, is not enough to say without a doubt that what we are building has no chance at success. When the 9-7 Giants win the Super Bowl are they the best team? Or did things work out for them at the right time. Because something happened once, doesn't mean that it has to happen again. There are tons of variables that go into matchups and they aren't constants. I just don't buy into the line of thinking that because we lost this time there is something fatally wrong with what we are doing. A team that is favored to win 90% of the time still loses 10% of the time. So if it just so happens that unlucky 10% happens do you scrap the whole thing as a failure?
I would honestly welcome Josh Smith. The dude has been the first option on pretty much every team he's been on. If he were to come to the Rockets, he wouldn't be jacking up so many shots, he'd know he's behind Harden, Howard, even Parsons. He would be able to bring defensive tenacity, work on the boards, is a better 3 point shooter than any of our PFs, a REALLY good passer, and is a beast in transition. I'm sure we can work out some deal with Detroit.
So because #4 Houston lost to #5 Portland , that proves to you that our offensive system doesn't work? Did you feel the same way last season when #4 LA Clippers lost to the #5 Memphis Grizzlies in 6 games? As much as you're trying to ignore your original comment, the fact is you said that Smith "just chucks 3 pointers" and the stats show that he only shoots 3 pointers 21% of the time. It seems that either you realize that saying that a player just does one thing when it only occurs 21% of the time is ridiculous and you're trying to avoid the statement or your're really bad at math. Interesting that you'd say that "18% is nothing" when it comes to posting up but in relation to shooting 3 pointers, 21% is the only thing he does. That's some pretty liberal rounding that you're doing there to fit your point.
