Hoyer and Mallet were 9-7 last year. W-L doesn't necessarily mean much when the team is winning with defense

I said this week's ago. Dummy down the offense and speed it up. Right now it's not working and they are having a hard time moving the ball. The offensive line must be struggling with it as well and they are losing big time in the trenches because of it.

I dont get how the NE offense only survives with Brady...when Matt Cassell goes 11-5...and Jimmy G, in his first 2 starts ever, dominates and goes 2-0.

At some point, regardless of "complexity", the QB needs to make the accurate throw. Osweiler is horribly inaccurate, he forces balls into covered areas, and he gets happy feet with any hint of pressure.

I thought we had to dumb down the offense for Hoyer and Fitz to post 95 ratings...if we are doing the same with Brock, then what does that say about Brock? Even if/when it gets dumbed down, will Brock will be able to make the accurate throws and good reads?

It seems to me that Brock had his best game of the year during week 1, and has slowly gotten worse with each passing week. He has a chance to turn it around against the Colts though and maybe that can give him some confidence going into the game against the Broncos.

First of all, Matt Cassel hasn't been a Patriot in 8 years and he was gone before O'Brien became offensive coordinator. And, like Graoppolo, he'd been in the system (three years before his '08 season). And you're assuming that the greatest head coach of all-time ran the exact same system and didn't modify to fit each QB's strengths and weaknesses, which, I think, would be a mistake.

I don't think they dumbed it down for Fitz or Hoyer - but I did get a sense that, with his QB now in the fold, O'Brien was going to go full system implementation - which he hadn't done previously.

To me, Osweiler looks like a QB that is overthinking and playing way too fast.

Why look at evidence, when Bobby says Osweiler has played above average this season?

You're the only person on the planet that likes what Brock has brought to the table. "Above average".

    lol.

Perhaps, it won't be the first time that seemingly everyone was wrong. 1 well thought out position is better than a million emotional hot takes.

Anyway, to those paying attention (obviously not many) Brock has been good when he's had time, bad when he's been pressured. The O line has to be better and he has to work on his footwork when he moves around in the pocket. I know that kind of talk is over your head, so don't even bother trying to respond.

Good QBs dont wet the bed any time there is pressure. That's part of the game...and what separates a good QB from a bad QB is how they do in those situations. EVERY single QB in the league can do well if they have a nice pocket.

Brock is young and has time to improve. The issue is mostly that he hasnt shown any signs of improvement after 12 starts. Still early, so let's just see how it plays out. Thus far though, not good.

Yup, when he's had time, he can throw it deep and accurate according to some of the Viking players that were watching film on him. He can take hits which is good, but he also sees ghosts and tends to waste good unprotected pockets.

Considering that Bill O'Brien is using Brian Peters to do kickoffs and Watt to do goal line half-back dives, maybe he should consider starting Jonathan Joseph to break up Osweiler's passes to opponent defenses.

IMO that's related to him having no faith in the O line. So often they've flat out whiffed on blocks and he's had a defender with a free run to the QB. When you don't trust your O line (for good reason) then you end up "seeing ghosts" and feeling pressure that isn't there. Hopefully he'll have a reason to trust the O line going forward and to that end a game against the Colts was just what the doctor ordered. Even really good QB's can get rattled when they don't feel their O line will protect them. It's how Scam Newton threw 3 picks against the Vikings.

He certainly talks big, but can he actually deliver? Or will he continue to melt down under the blistering media and fan scrutiny?

You can talk about his footwork and Xs and Os. But a quarterback needs to be able to inspire courage under adversity. So your o-line and receivers will fight as well.

Coaches might be willing to be patient, but will his teammates on the offense?

Last night, I saw the Bucs make Jameis hand off to Rogers over and over again on the first drive. They showed the stat of how bad he had been in the 1st quarter this season so they put the ball out of his hands. The Panthers had to change the way they defended. When Brock was signed we all assumed that the offense wouldn't have to depend on him because of the Lamar Miller signing. Most seasons, even Brady has an effective running game. Practice running the ball over and over again until they get it right. The passing game will follow. I promise.
