I still don’t get the point, Sengun is the best offensive player of both teams. So, what does “those 4 players were better than their counterparts) mean if we just ignore the best player on both teams, and the effect a non-scoring-threat center like Hayes typically has on offenses.

but you’re right. I don’t think it’s fair to say we could be 4th in ORtg. But, I’d say top 10 is a fair criteria to measure vs Adelman’s 2011 team.

I get that part but the mark of a good team is being able to play any situation, or getting the game to conform to their best traits.

It's sus that Ime told our players we're gonna play fast this year and score most of our points in transition.

Just screams he doesn't have a clue how to coach a half-court offense with the personnel we have.

Unfortunately our transition often ends up with a jacked up 3 brick that ends with them scoring on the other end.

Too many of our transition opportunities are ruined because someone like Jabari gets a rebound and decides its time to play 6'10" guard when this team has Ferrari level guards and wings who could push the pace significantly faster with far better ball security also.

Find myself doing the “no, no, nnnok good shot” thing a lot with Cam. He made enough of them I guess, I mean we desperately need scoring especially off the bench so you gotta be particularly aggravating to be a decent shooter who can throw in 20 off the bench and it’s still like what do we do with this guy?

It's criminal when the bigs do that stuff. I could allow a Sengun catch and long-pass, but any of them dribbling the length of the court when we have players like Amen and Jalen who 99% of the league couldn't come close to keeping up with is not "high iq" at all.

I agree with your first statement .

Looking back at the stats : scola Lowry and Kmart.

    (Specifically adjusted shooting)

None stand out as particularly efficient guys . Kmart has a couple of good seasons before getting to us and one pretty good one with us . Lowry had great shot selection of 3's and free throws (especially his last 2 years with us)

Scola I'll defend since he was shooting league average on "inefficient" looks . He hit a lot of deep midrange and got in the post (so rim looks , but not transition dunks etc )

Looking at dragic , he had 22 games really hot 3 points shooting his first year with us .

Then his second year he got to the rim more and finished well there .

Comparing to green and sengun. Green has been less efficient this far in his career than those guys were with the rockets . Sengun is in the same pack. Both green and sengun benefit from great free throw rates .

Yes Green isn't as efficient as 28 year old KM or 25 year old Lowry but then again Jalen also probably would have a higher scoring efficiency under Adelman coached system. But it's obvious that he's worlds more talented than those guys. Also the fr rate you mentioned is another good point to express that Sengun and Green are a lot more talented than anyone on that roster because usually the most talented offensive creators who beat defenses often get to the line more.

This. And Sengun should be told to reposition his post if he is being shoved out of position.

Lowry was also talented in a different way. Better defender than green and honestly it would be interesting to look at distribution of free throws rates over seasons and also test your hypothesis about Free throw rate and offensive creation.

Looking back at the free throws rates ... Dwight Howard has absurdly high levels , but I wouldnt call him an offensive creator ... At least the type I think you are referring to.

A lot of guys get set up in advantageous positions to try and maximize their efficiency.

While green and sengun have FTR working to their advantage now , there's no guarantee that they will keep getting looks along that distribution . Sengun especially has a very high rate

Both need to grow in their efficiency .

He should have ordered Sengun to plant himself much closer to the basket or reposition so that he could impose his size on Williams. As it was, he posted a bit far from the basket which gave the double team time and space to hack him.

I mean there are a few teams that have very good players but their ceiling are not real contenders.

Sactown Kings, the Pelicans, the Cavaliers and so on.

I was gonna start a thread titled, “what’s wrong with the offense”, but this seems like the right thread.

someone mentioned, let’s not have Sengun start his post ups so far away from the basket. I agree.

another thing I’ve noticed through 3 games: no ball movement. We are going back to iso. Sometimes we run the P&R, but that’s it. We only seem to have set plays coming out of time outs.

offense is not Ime’s strong suit. I think it’s both a personnel problem and a coaching problem. A roster devoid of shooters that doesn’t fit well together. And a coach who doesn’t appear to have an organized offensive philosophy. I thought ime was gonna stress ball movement; that’s when this team is at its best. But I see our guys going long stretches falling back into their bad habits offensively.

Jalen is over dribbling. Dillon gets tunnel vision. Fred is not facilitating like last year. Bari is the opposite of assertive. Amen is taking more 3’s than drives to the rim. Sengun driving from the top of the key and turning the ball over. No one is cutting. The ball just stops. We just chuck it. And worst of all, we are one of the poorer shooting teams so jacking up 3’s instead of middy’s or getting to the rim just compounds the inefficiency.

but let’s look at the personnel. Fred and Dillon are the only good shooters. And let’s face it, Fred hasn’t looked good. Bari is struggling. Jalen continues to be an inefficient chucker. Reed is rookie who looks like a rookie. We don’t have shooters. Nothing has changed that. Stone’s team doesn’t fit and I’m seeing the same problems from last season.

Yes our core is young and still developing. But clearly the roster needs some adjustments. We need a center of gravity on offense that isn’t just dumping down in the post to Sengun. Or Jalen going iso. I’m finally ready for a shakeup trade. The starting lineup does not fit. And we have too few guys that can actually shoot.
