So...how far over the cap are we right now, because next year's payroll is 18 million less than this year's, according to the source I'm looking at.

We have 0 cap space next year, Yao's max is kicking in. We ONLY have the MLE.

just say NO to bonzi wells, that guy is the definition of team cancer.

melvin ely is a guy i've always liked, especially if stro is gone, he could play both PF and C. very good player.

I still don't understand the cap situation...

From what I see, we have these players coming off the books...

    Weatherspoon @ 6.4 million
    Wesley @ 5.1 million
    Norris @ 4.6 million
    Baker @ 3.9 million
    Barry @ 1.8 million
    Baxter @ 720k
    Hayes @ 250k
    Glover @ 147k
    Lucas @ 58k
    Graham @ 40k
    Davis @ 16k

    This year's payroll: $69,476,614

    Next year's payroll: $51,744,967

So is 51.7 million still over the league cap?

EDIT: I see now. This year was $49.5 million so next year $51.7 million doesn't leave us with anything. My mistake.

Yeah... 51 is over. I believe 49 is the cap.

I too think Joel Przybilla would be a great addition. But he's gonna get PAID!

Ben Wallace is my favorite non-Rocket player. If we could land him, we'd be set. Honestly, I'd rather have a starting five of Yao, T-Mac, Big Ben and a couple of developmental players than the starting five we have now.

I'd like to get a combo of Speedy Claxton and Jumaine Jones, if possible. Jones is really undervalued. He's a good defender who is just money with his 3pt shot from the corner. He's also a good rebounder for his size. I don't know why he's been in a funk this year, but that lowers his value in the offseason for any lucky team that picks him up.

Speedy is a pure point guard, like Rafer. The difference is that he can finish strong around the hoop when he penetrates. He's good scoring and playmaking off the bench, which is something we could use. People knock him for his defense, but it's not that bad.

I don't think we should go for Mike James. He fits all of our needs. Probably the ideal backup PG. But we had him before and traded him. He's going for what looks like the last contract of his career and who's to say he'll still be great once he gets it? What kind of loyalty and dedication will he have?
