Well I guess you missed last year's Ohio State, Oklahoma and even the Texas A&M game. They all sacked him 3 times. AJ Hawk had two sacks on him in the OSU game, and should have had another one in that game.
for you to just name those 3 games clearly shows what he's talking about. He's 29-2 as a starter, so he gets sacked 3 times in 3 games. What about the other 28 times? I'm pretty sure you've seen how elusive he can be and that's the point the original poster was trying to make. it's just like all you vince haters pointing to the a&m game to show that vince sucks...it's just one game.
Vince isnt God here...he has a ways to go before he can be effective in the NFL. Yes, he can be elusive as hell and he has pulled some stunts on the field that were incredible. However, playing against an NFL team is completely different...they are all bigger, stronger, and faster. He will have a much more difficult time getting away from defenders as well as breaking tackles, something he did plenty of in college. Im no Vince hater, but his transition to the NFL will be a tough one.
Uhh.. he was the one who made the claim VY had never been sacked 3 times. Texx proved him wrong. Throwing out the word hater is sure fun though, huh?
I know. I'm not saying what Texx was wrong at all. I'm just saying that the original poster was just making a point that Vince is elusive and just threw out a number. And the reason why i said Vince hater is because I'm referring to all the people that kept on bringing up one game in the entire season to knock the guy and his accomplishments. I mean, the guy is 29-2 as a starter, lead the nation in passing efficiency and won the national championship almost single-handely and yet we throw that away because of one game in college station. And when it comes to claiming that Vince is god, I definitely don't think he's one because he hasn't taken a snap yet. I think he will have a hard adjustment to make at the next level but I also think that he will make that adjustment and will flourish in the NFL. There's no way that he's gonna be as elusive as he was in college but I also think that his development as a passer will make him a better overall player.
I think the guy said "no one" in while quoting someone suggesting Mario could sack Young three times. He could have been meaning "no player" has sacked Young three times which is possible, but I would have expected some player to have gotten him three times in 2004. He was much more hesitant in the pocket when he didn't bolt immediately. If he meant "no team", he obviously is misinformed and is wrong. That said, I think Mario is an excellent pickup. He's what Babin was suppose to be except at DE...a guy that can play the run on the strongside and still put pressure on QB. The Texans may use him on the weakside, but his potential ability to play strongside is what excites me.
take, for instance, the sunday night seattle game last year (possibly the lowest moment in texans history.) if you put reggie or vince into that game, we still lose. if you put mario into that game--well, i guess we still lose--but not as bad!
Trading a 2nd round pick and a 3rd round pick for Philip Buchanon was the lowest point in Texans history. Thank God Casserly is gone.
Na...It was drafting Carr... Seriously, it was hard to expect much from a start up franchise, but wasn't hard to overlook the overpaying and drafting of mediocre talent...
This is correct and OSU's defense gave Vince Young lots of fits scrambling and running. If fact VY should have taken another sack or two and made worse plays because of it (e.g., Hawk INT). Of course that defense had about 8-10 pros on it, more than half 1st day picks, and Vince Young still was by far the best player on the field and beat them WITH HIS ARM. The athleticsm and quickness is nice (and the occasional run and scramble to throw), but it is VY's combination of size, composure, accuracy, arm strength and leadership that will make him special, and this is why he was the 1st QB drafted a year with three top notch QB prospects available.
