The offense is down right unwatchable.

We scored an average of 96 ppg this series. The only team worse than us is Orlando.

we had 78 points scored before the last 3 minutes when everyone decided to stat pad.....

sad bump but i've raised questions all year about our intention on offense, specifically turning Alperen into a score first option. I just don't see a path for us being contenders using him as the focal point when he shoots below 50% and obviously can't space the floor or knock down free throws.

it's no coincidence that his best game was the one where he shot the least but focused on facilitating and walked away with a near triple double.

The West won’t be as weak next year with the newly improved Spurs and the Lakers with the big three(Lebron, Doncic, Durant). Hearing it’s a lock that we’re spending all our capital on retaining FVV for 44.5 mm a year and will have to spend dearly to retain Adams. Welcome to Stone world where we think we have enough and just need the experience. Groundhog day over and over again. Had we made the move for Butler then we’d be the one’s excited to play and beatMinnesota. All it took was Andrew Wiggins??? Their GM won the series and ours lost it with zippo moves at the trade deadline. Not complex and nothing to be proud of as the same thing will occur again next year with no offseason moves.

People on this board have to understand that if we're harping on all 3 of Sengun, Green and Amen to make floaters and midrange shots - the shot that every team is happy to give up - then that means the offense is failing. If your top 3 scorers should settle for midrange, even if you're the Wizards, you're f*cking up. The other team is saying "please take it" and we're saying "that's a good shot". No it's not. Unless you have KD or CP3 or someone of the calibre in midrange, that's literally the worst shot we can take and to frequently end up with that shot for your top 3 scorers is comically bad. Only Amen is good at floaters and none of them have ever shown the consistent ability to be midrange-based from 15 feet.

Further the point of a superstar is to draw the double team so others can score. Jalen drew the double team the whole series. That means when he passes out we should be going 4 on 3. But if 2 of those 4 guys can't shoot and none of them is a vertical threat, then their 3 defenders can cover it easily.

I wanted Jalen to attack the blitz and from how the Jaters are attacking me it sounds like they wanted the same thing. They wanted him to go at the agressive double teams instead of passing to his 4 teammates who have a numbers advantage. But what's crazy is Ime doesn't want that. That would be Jalen going against the coach and to be frank I'm not sure he has the skills yet to do that against a Warriors team in the playoffs. So then we'd have the Jaters hating on Jalen not listening to the coach.

This offense should have been re-designed around Amen the moment it was clear he's locked in as a starter. These were our options if we were starting 2 non-shooters:

    1) Sengun offense:
    - upside is Sengun scores at the same TS% as Jalen plus 2 assists. That's 1 of the 3 benefiting. You could say FVV benefits here but he's not part of the future.
    - downside everyone is stuck in midrange or halfcourt iso. None of them are excellent midrangers scorers.

    2) Amen offense:
    - Upside is you open the paint up for drives from the perimeter and transition (2 of 3 benefiting). Amen and Jalen just have to beat their immediate man and when the defense collapses corner shooters start getting open.
    - Downside: Sengun takes fewer shots, more 3's and assists, however he can totally play in a fast paced system.

I think we made the wrong choice and from everyone saying Amen is the clear priority on this team now it sounds like most people here feel the same. They just don't like it when I apply it to Jalen but ask around for how long I've been saying what's good for Amen is good for Jalen but what's good for Sengun turns the other 2 into role players who have to work extra hard for their points.

Our team doesn’t fit well, we have a center who is pretty good but doesn’t demand a double team, we have a PG that can’t beat his man off the dribble, we have a SG who is passive and has no floater or counter moves when you press him and pack the paint, we don’t have a true identity, we don’t fit.

If we want to work with this group, Sengun needs a 40% 3 ball and Jalen needs a floater or midrange game, and we need a better player at PG.

new season, new players, same unimpressive offense. (yes i know we have an high offensive rating but that's entirely dependent on us missing shots....)

anybody else love watching the team try for 15 seconds to throw KD the ball at the top of the Arc to inevitably turn the ball over 2-3x a game?

They have no other offensive options. Nobody ever listens to me but I am always right! I said for years to fire Silas and got mocked continuously. I said for years that Jabrari was no good and got mocked continuously. I said and continue to say that Stone is the worst GM in the NBA and get mocked continuously. At some point the bozos on this site will realize I am way ahead of the game.

It's extremely difficult to win when the disparity of 3-pointers made between teams is so big. The strategy of not taking a lot of 3s simply won't work in the modern NBA

How about the one where we get 5 shots a possession due to us missing wildly only to never make a shot?

    Imagine Drake’s meme -
Improve our shooting efficiency? Not interested
Improve our offensive rebounding %? Hell yeah!!

That’s the strategy.. We’ll improve our offense by hustling our way in D and in rebounding. Zero creativity on ball movement, floor spacing, bringing crafty shooters instead of Okagie kind of players (which is nice but not the player we needed.. though I would keep him and trade dfs, we definitely not need both)..

Reed the comments above for when FVV was still playing

Doesn’t sound too different does it? And then they song DFS, capela

This team has a type and people pretend Udoka didn’t bend Stone over to build this roster

We might have to go get Harden back. At least the offense will be better.
