Ridiculous, I'm of the younger generation and I can't even recall getting a spanking. There are definite ways of getting a point across without having to resort to this type of physical abuse. Take something away from the child or put restraints on the things he/she enjoys. But any form of physical abuse/torture is over the line. We live in a well developed society now and the negative effects from abuse like this can be long lasting.
Obviously not true, as many have posted in this thread that they were disciplined in a similar fashion and see nothing wrong with it. Such a response seems to indicate that they value the discipline they received at the hands of their parents. They'll also tell you to try and reason with a 4-year-old as if they were a rational adult. Just because a child psychiatrist says it doesn't make it right.
I don't see what's the big deal though seriously... I can understand the cold shower not being cool but hell we got our asses beat when we did stuff like this. Here is the problem nowadays... Parents don't discipline their children anymore and that's the biggest problem. Going out anymore is a pain because parents don't do their jobs and put their kids in line. Makes me want to drop kick the parents.
Who records this? Why would anyone record them punishing their children? The punishment certainly isn't one I'd choose, but it could be a lot worse. That said, and I'll ask again, what kind of nutcase records themselves punishing their child?
Whitney- Bunch of soft kids. Back in my days I was hustlin clowns and robbin kids of their dreams to one day be able to play the Grand Prize game!!!

Take away the "dramatic" music track on the vid and It's not even that bad. For those who grew up with corporal punishment in school that looks weak. You best get me my beer woman before you get the Skeet Skeet!
I think the cold shower is a bit too much, but ya hot sauce isn't that bad. Shoot I went to school in India till 6th grade and our teachers used to beat us with steel and wooden rulers since kindergarten. I had this one douche teacher who used to pull the hair on the sideburns as a punishment.
That's not abuse. Those of you in here comparing this to torture and physical abuse have no clue what you're talking about.
So just because they were disciplined like that and they see nothing wrong with it, then its okay? Its just like a kid watching a drunk, abusive father...then they turn into one when they reach that stage of life. Regarding the child psychiatry stuff...the reason its unnecessary is because that form of punishment does nothing to correct behavior. You can discipline without getting physical. Once you need to get physical in order to get a point across, then youve gone further than you've needed to.
Man when I was a kid, I mistakenly raised my voice against my father and he waged a battle on me and left permanent burn marks on the left side of my face. He then banished me from my home until I'm able to capture the Avatar and bring him to justice. I'm still searching today, with the help of my uncle.
Man, I was like what's going on? I came back in here and it was gone and any post referencing it was gone too. Oh well, clean up time!
Haha, I guess this is the alternate to beating them. Funny thing is she does all that and the kid still continues to get in trouble.
