Dallas the city wants to be Houston so bad, they steal our slang, listen to our music, and mimic our style... They use our lingo and try to play it off as their own..
Who cares what some idiot says on a blog? There are idiot fans of every team on the planet. I am sure there are plenty of ignorant Houston fans who say offensive things on the internet from time to time. Even as a die-hard Rockets fan, I am happy for Dirk and the Mavs. They deserved to win it, especially for hanging in after all the crap they have been through in the playoffs the last 5 years. Even better, the Mavs' surprise win reminds me why it is worth watching the NBA every year, because you never know what will happen. Living outside of Houston, I can tell you the legion of bandwagon Heat fans are 1000x worse than Mavs fans anyway.
After living in Dallas, I find this to be very true. I hear more Houston music bumpin than Dallas music, except at clubs.
My girlfriend is a die hard Mavs fan so I decided not be hateful and just look at the Finals as objectively as I could because i hated both teams... I told her that they would come back and win game 2 when she stopped believing they would... Everytime they won all of her Dallas friends would frite on my FB wall and text me talking ****... THat's Dallas for you... But I was set off by the rickreilly article she sent me and told me to send to houston haters... I made a few additions to it and sent it to real houston fans... And I will post for you all below: MIAMI -- Pull for Dallas to win these NBA Finals because Miami will get forklifts of rings someday. This might be Dallas' last chance. -It has been a last chance for plenty of teams to win… Only the best win… Not everybody is supposed to get a ring… Pull for Dallas because it got screwed in the 2006 Finals worse than Bartman. To lose to the same team five years later would be tantamount to basketball waterboarding. -They lost to an aggressive player named Dwayne Wade who took it to them while they were relaxing on a 2 game lead. Championship teams rise above the adversity… (ex. Rockets, Spurs) Dallas can be there if they finish this series out… Pull for Dallas because Mark Cuban hasn't opened his mouth once. -Truthfully… If there is any reason you guys haven’t won a championship it is because he opened his mouth so many times… The commish is the boss in the NBA… Sometimes I wanna go tell people off at work but I don’t because I won’t get to where I need to go if I do that… Pull for Dallas because Dirk Nowitzki deserves this title more than anybody else on the floor, more than LeBron James, more than Dwyane Wade. -What makes him DESERVE it? There are a lot of guys I would like to see have a championship (and he is one) but nobody deserves it… BTW… If anybody deserves championships it would be old school guys like Karl Malone hate him) and Charles Barkley… They didn’t cry about being fouled EVERY play… They never made excuses either… Pull for Dallas because Nowitzki stayed with his team, never took his talents anywhere but to the damn gym every day. -He stayed on a team that focuses on offense…. He goes to the gym and works on his offense… He doesn’t work on defense… He doesn’t push to get more defensive players… DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS (see Rockets, Spurs, Pistons, Celtics….) Pull for Dallas because Nowitzki has stuck it out through 13 seasons so far with this one team, stuck it out through all those depressing playoff springs, all those one-and-dones, all those words people called him -- "loser" "choker" "soft" -- stuck it out even when Steve Nash left, leaving Nowitzki with a lot of nobodies and some mops. -Steve Nash left because they insulted him with that contract offer… Letting him leave set the franchise back 5 years… If you would have paid him then yall would have had 2 rings by now… Do you remember who they signed that summer instead of him?? Steve Nash went on to a better opportunity to win… He was tired of the mediocrity Pull for Dallas because when you ask Nowitzki why he didn't bolt the way everybody else does, he simply says, "Because this is where my heart is." -So what… There are a lot of players who don’t leave to chase a championship… Not everybody is supposed to get a ring… Pull for Dallas because Nowitzki didn't try to win a title the new way, didn't pick the best kids on the playground and take on everybody else, didn't get a bunch of super-human friends and schedule himself a ring, like you might a kegger or your birthday party. -If somebody offers you a bently or a lexus for free but you can only choose one then you pick the Bentley… If someone give you the same situation but tell you they will give a little more money to take the lexus you still take the Bentley… Lebron’s decision represents this… Miami (Bentley) or Clevland (beat down lexus) I don’t agree with the primetime special to do it but he did make the right decision for him… He gave them 7 years.. he doesn’t owe them anything after that.. Pull for Dallas because Nowitzki has this crazy idea about trying to win one the old fashioned way, by getting better. -If he believed in getting better he would stop whining about being fouled (even thought he is on the line all day long) and get to working on defense. Pull for Dallas because James is so heaven-sent talented that he'll get more than his share of rings before he's done. -Doesn’t matter if he’s going to win them in the future… That doesn’t make Dallas the best team this year… That is such a loser and entitled way of thinking.. Pull for Dallas because Nowitzki is much closer to done than starting now. -So what? Not everybody wins a championship… I want T-mac and Yao to win some but they probably never will.. It’s ok… I will always appreciate them but they were never healthy enough they were the best team in a given year… Pull for Dallas because 38-year-old Jason Kidd deserves one, too, despite what he says. "I want this more for Dirk than for me," says Kidd, who's played in three decades -- 17 years -- in this league without champagne in his hair. "All the work Dirk's put in, all the time. Man he deserves it more than anybody on this team. There are more good guys in that room than in some divisions. - Dirk is the biggest whiner in the game… If he doesn’t make a shot he got fouled.. Wouldn't it be nice to give them one? -The only team to do a pre celebration was the Miami heat… Not a good reason to give the mavs a championship… If the heat go out and win on top of it it just proves what they were excited about… If the mavs win then good for them… Pull for these Dallas Mavericks because the way things are going, the Dallas Cowboys may never win a title again. -Very true but not a reason they should win the championship… Why not have the milwauke Bucks win? That city doesn’t have crap going for them… Or seattle (in football)… they have the highest suicide rates… Pull for Dallas because it's clear they're the underdogs in this, sort of the way a squirrel is the underdog vs. an owl. You knew that after Tuesday night's Game 1, the way LeBron James was flying over people like Air Florida and Dwyane Wade was dazzling everybody else, the way he does in NBA Finals. You knew that the way they pulled away to that win in Game 1. -There is always an underdog… It matters how you act as the underdog… You can whine and b*tch and moan like dallas or you can rise above it.. Because a team isn’t the underdog doesn’t mean they shouldn’t win… There is a reason they are not the underdog… Pull for Dallas because its best player, Nowitzki, has a torn tendon in his left middle finger now and yet never once blinked when we asked if he'll keep playing. -Willis Reed… MJ playing through the FLU… Plenty of other players who play through injury… Every non famous person who plays through injury because they have competitive spirit… If this is a valid argument then when Yao comes back I expect you to cheer for the Rockets all season long because of the adversity he faces for just being the size he is… Pull for Dallas because it's not about The Decision. It's about one team taking the easy way to a title and another team taking a way that just keeps getting harder. -This is stupid… The job of a GM is to put a team in a better situation to win a championship… Not make it harder… GO complain to your GM or owner.. they all play in the same game… Pat Riley won the game of chess in free agency… Pull for Dallas, because, my God, how many good things can happen to Pat Riley in one lifetime? -Good things happen to him because he is disciplined and he works pretty darn hard for everything… Not everything is handed down in life and NBA championships shouldn’t either.. That all being said… Y’all have a good chance to win this year… so take it from a Rockets fan not to do things beneath you… like cheer for stupid articles like this… It takes away from your championship.. It makes it less special… Enjoy the moment because it will be the best in your life… Stop crying about every single loose ball and just experience it all… The better team will win… If a game is close in the last 5 min it is up to the players to go get it like Dirk did last night…

I had the same thing happen when I moved here..everyone crapped on Houston the second I told them where I was from. No reason..they just immediately said "oh I'm sorry". I never had a problem with Dallas people until I moved here and had to listen to them constantly talk trash about Houston. I never had a problem with they're sports teams until Cuban took over the Mavs and the fans jumped on the bandwagon and started talking so much trash. Heck, I remember when all the Mavs fans were ticked off that the Mavs brought in some German nobody to play forward & I said to give the guy a chance. They are completely bandwagon fans. 2yrs ago, about 1/3 of the fans at the Rangers-Astro's game were rooting for the 'Stro's...but this year it looks like they all bought their hometeam shirts to wear to the games for once. completely bandwagon fans..although at the Rangers games, they don't talk trash like they do at the Mavs games. I'm cool with the Rangers because they draw a large crowd from Ft. Worth and FW folks are much much more laid-back than Dallas people. I still don't have a problem with the Spurs, and most Spurs fans I meet are completely cool with Houston teams as well. Its just Dallas people that are complete idiots about things. Luckily isn't Tom Grieve done after this season? I was told that John Radigan was taking over. Radigans a really nice guy..but NOBODY in the industry likes Grieve - he's a jerk.

I irony of his post though. He wonders why Houston fans hate Dallas teams...and HE is the VERY reason that most of us do. Spurs fans rarely (at least the ones I know) talk about their 4 championships. Throw it in your face etc etc....Dallas gets ONE and we start hearing this mess. Funny thing is I said this would exactly happen, even the 'Hakeem won when Jordan went on break, so our one championship counts more than your two' mess.
I have always thought my hate towards them was about Dallas not been man-enough to be part of Texas... Yes, Houston has been sucked for last couple of years, but we take that like a man and try to get better. We don't have an owner who acts like a monkey most of time and for the "Katrina Victims" part, PLEASE Dallas, act like a gentleman for once in your lifetime.
