All we really have right now is optimism or pessimism in your case. Why did you even join the board this last month? Cowboy fan.
I am not asking you to believe. I am 100% sure it will be proven out over the course of his stay in Houston.
uhm......Shane Battier is not the reason the USA lost the game to Greece... I'm sure your post was typed with good intentions but they must haave been lost somewhere between the brain and the keyboard.
I'm sure your post was typed with good intentions but they must haave been lost somewhere between the monitor and your brain Did I say Shane Battier is the reason the USA lost the game to Greece??? I was responding to someone who posted that Battier steps up when it counts.. well that game counted and regardless if they won or lost, can you honestly say Battier stepped up in this game???
Yeah, I couldn't figure out why he didn't play more either. We couldn't stop the PnR with Wade, James, and Melo and he is the best defender on the team. I'm sorry but we're still dealing with too many egos. And no, Arenas wouldn't have helped either. He's just another big ego for the coaches to have to deal with. This team still doesn't have enough role players, enough defenders, enough shooters, and enough post play. Oh, but those guys can sure dunk. They still don't get it. Pass, move, cut, screen, and pass. Not dribble, dribble, dribble. No ball movement, no screens, no clue on D. Best athletes in the world. Hey, look at the bright side. We've acquired 2 highly intelligent, hard-nosed, skilled ballers who understand their roles and know how to make the team better.
I thought most posters consider Battier as a role-player in this USA Team. Step up? I thought the star players are the one that should step. USA can easily win if they had shot the FTs with a better percentage. You know what, USA only shot 58% from the foul line.
I'm partway through my DVR of the Greece game, watching Battier make plays that other guys cash in for points and steals. Now I understand what "Battier disappeared" means. It means he was playing the game while you were looking at the box score.
there is no defending the battier trade right now. and again, trying to compare what he does over there to what he needs to do over here is silly, but he doesn't have to score over there. on the rockets he's the third option and 2 points isn't going to be enough no matter how many floor burns he develops. the same people saying he wasn't the reason they lost are the same people claiming he was key in close victories. its ridiculous, in both cases he's a non factor.
steve francis and cuttino mobley gave some of the most encouraging post-game interviews after tough losses. unfortunately, we still lost.
what's with all the people bashing on battier on this board. Team USA losing was not his fault! He's one player on a 12 man roster. What he said is exactly what should have been said after the loss. Would you people rather him be a poor sport and say they should have won? Or worst yet, would you rather have him bash the American players for losing? His professionalism is important and needed on a ego-filled "give the ball to me" american squad. Oh, by the way, here is a link to the World Championship Stats. Battier stands out here: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AqBfBKDtM.b1CPmNy.1KDvS8vLYF?slug=fibastat THREE-POINT PCT ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (MINIMUM OF 5 THREE-POINT FIELD GOALS MADE) PLAYER GP 3FG 3FA PCT ------ -- --- --- --- Shane Battier, USA 6 10 15 .667 Mark Worthington, 6 7 11 .636 Elias Ayuso, PRT 5 22 35 .629 Jaka Lakovic, SLO 6 17 28 .607 Matteo Soragna, ITA 6 7 12 .583 Juan Ignacio Sanchez, ARG 6 7 12 .583 El Kabir Pene, 5 11 19 .579 Saso Ozbolt, SLO 5 5 9 .556 David Barlow, 6 6 11 .545 Darjus Lavrinovic, 7 7 13 .538 Ersan Ilyasova, TUR 4 7 13 .538 Kirk Hinrich, USA 6 7 13 .538 Antonio Carvalho, ANG 5 8 15 .533 Saad Abdulrahman Ali, 5 18 34 .529 Rudy Fernandez, SPN 7 11 21 .524 He's gonna be valuable to our team. I'm so tired of Battier-bashing on these boards. Let the season come about and then judge.
Just not true. Battier was in the thick of things when he got a chance to play. There was one sequence where he made a shot, helped get a steal by diving on the ground, and tipped a rebound to wade. He was only in 12 minutes, and played extremely well. He wasn't playing when Greece took control in the second quarter. I'll take 30-35 minutes of that any day.
speak for yourself i was aking he he know what I was responding and he understood and responded sorry if you can't understand simple english
Dude - come on - i think he's been a winner a little more tha you are remembering. Uh - like everywhere. This guy will get the important mins for the Rox unlike his 12 minutes today. He will be a crucial piece and will do it with dignity.
