This video explains the #1 reason why we should not get him even via trade.

Before that, this is why we chould have not told Lowry to wait for the Melo decision.

Lowry coming or not was still up in the air but he definitely made his decision after hearing that. We should have made Lowry our #1 priority this off season.

I can believe that Bosh truly thought that the Heat would be okay with him and Luol Deng, but the idea that Melo's decision to stay in NY had to do with anything other than money and branding was ridiculous. It's fine to go after the money just don't expect anyone to believe that you're all about winning. His best chance at winning was becoming a second or third banana somewhere. This team sucks and he is a huge part of that.

I have no idea if Parsons' deal would've been matched had Lowry signed here(cuz Bosh obviously wouldn't have been pursued), so it's possible we would've wound up with a badly overpaid Parsons and Kyle Lowry rather than Trevor Ariza and lots of cap space to still go after a PG or PF in 2015 and beyond.

But damn, could you imagine this team as currently constructed only with Lowry in place of Bev?

If we had signed Melo and matched Parsons, we would have FOUR superstars on the team, exceeding even Morey's wildest dream.

I didn't want him as a free agent. To trade for him, you'd have to pay him all that money, plus give up a bunch of assets for the privilege!

I never liked that idea of Melo being our 4. Thank God he didn't wanna sign here, cuz I don't know what the hell Morey and Les were thinking. For all my reservations about Bosh's ability or desire to lead this team(which he answered by taking the money and staying in Miami), at least he was a perfect fit at the 4.

If Lowry was the no.1 option during that time, then Morey would talk Lowry and Parsons much early before anyone else. For example, Morey could tell Lowry for a $12M offer first, and then told Parsons for the similar offer, I think we could have both, but Ariza was out of option. A big problem here is that no one of those two players can be a third star on the team according to the rockets, so this option was never considered.

Maybe Tim Hardaway Jr will be available then, he's pretty much the only player I'd want from the Knicks.
