I vote every year and have only missed 4 elections since I turned 18 (and I am not a young man). One time in the hospital, and 2 times because of work travel, and one time out of the country for a year. I do not believe our elections will be fair. Trump is doing nothing to stop interference in the midterms this year, and our intelligence agencies are warning of massive efforts by Russia to hack into voting systems and disrupt our elections. Our democracy is failing. This country has been good to me. And I will not fear standing up to a totalitarian regime. You should join me if you believe in democracy because it's not about whose side is in power, it's about how they took that power.
The greatest threat to our democracy is complacency. That is what has happened with the lack of votes. But it's too late for that now. The voting system will be compromised. We can't take for granted what will happen. We have to be prepared for the logical conclusion of what a power hungry narcissist will attempt - which is to seize absolute power. At some point he will make his move, and people need to start preparing for that moment. Not just democrats, but all people who hate tyranny. We can hope it doesn't happen, but hope isn't going to do much if and when it does. Gotta start preparing.
Uh oh, looks like we've got a live Russian bot here, ladies and gentlemen. How much is Putin paying you?
They hacked the dnc and stole their strategy and polling data. People indicted by mueller have been consistently probed about this link (among others) and the extent of their knowledge. If you have the other teams playbook, it’s easier to gameplan without spending the money or experience to catch-up.
Good summary, I'd add ignoring the underhanded **** Hillary did to others within your own party. I would also add the embarassing / sometimes violent / stupid / paid protesters that turn off the decent people within the Democratic party. Any person of any political party knows it's wrong to get in the face of politicians in the manner we are seeing today.
In 2016 Hillary Clinton received about 3.65 million less votes than Obama did in 2008. Democrats picked the wrong candidate. Sweet Lou.. I get you are upset, but you sound EXACTLY like Republicans when Obama won. Instead of gerrymandering, electoral college, and the supreme court killing elections they were blaming illegal immigration and dead people voting. Anyone that thinks our country got better after this Kavanaugh thing is insane. We need to figure out how to live together before the violence starts. I heard a number of people on the right WISHING someone from the left would do something violent just to light the powder keg. We need to stop trying to force our political beliefs down each others throats. Neither side will go down quietly. Strip the federal government and give states more power. At least that way if you want to live in a more liberal/socialist state you could do that and if people want to live in a conservative state they could do that. Otherwise.... once the violence starts it will not end and we will look like a 3rd world country.
I am not upset with Kavanaugh, just recognizing what is happening. The issue is not anything stunning truth be told, many nations are subverted and become authoritarian - the keys to overthrowing a democracy is to play to nationalism to rally nativists, control the courts, and finally attack the election system so that you can control the outcome. Trump & Co are doing all three successfully. My goal is to simply restore what as there and we need greater protections - the Senate should have never gone nuclear but ultimately I suppose this was inevitable. The violence is coming. It's not a choice we have - I think the forces between the left and right are irreconcilable and the flames have been fannex such that it's only a matter of time before the powder keg is lit. My expectation is that Trump will find a way to either fix or suspend the 2020 election and with the Supreme Court backing declare some kind of national emergency where he can take absolute power. That's when the violence will happen.
You state this as if it's a fact, when it's not. The only indictments thus far were against a Russian company which purchased a few Facebook posts and ads. Nothing at all pertaining to any hacking. We don't even know if any hacking took place. The DNC refused to turn over their server to the FBI for examination. Now, why would they resist doing that? As for the aforementioned Facebook ads, they also ran ads in favor of Bernie Sanders. Did that help him? You want to know what a real unfair advantage is? How bout being given debate questions ahead of time so that you can prepare answers? How bout interference in our election by Mexican nationals, abetted by weak or non-existent voter-ID laws in several key states? My grandmother died in 2000 and she's been voting Democratic ever since.
Why don't you try posting things that actually happen instead of this nonsense. There was zero or almost zero voting done by Mexican nationals. They've looked into that already. Hillary was given a debate question that a man was going to ask her about the water quality in Michigan. Did that help her? Was that really that unfair? LOL
