Yep, nothing against threes, but people want to act like we didn't have a near mandate on getting rid of mid range shots. Every time someone took one Bull would say something like "They're going to talk about that..."

Everyone knew what we were doing. Either PnR with Capela (when we had him), push the pace on a fastbreak (when we had Russ) or drive and kick.

Basically the defense knew an entire area of the floor could be ignored which of course meant it was a lot easier for big teams to play drop defense or pack the paint.

So Morey and Harden experiment was a failure?

The same Morey who's 76ers are leading the East?

The same Harden who is leading the NBA's best offense and 2nd best team in the East?

So you are saying this #22 rated offense is more complicated, unpredictable and fun to watch.

Not necessarily better, because more complex or unpredictable obviously does not equal better amirite?

Because you'd be a fool to think this offense was better.

Umm...you saying he takse more threes here is a terrible point because he's never played this many minutes and actually being featured on a team. Of course he has the most 3PA here than any other place...because he's barely played at other places.

Other than Detroit he's played more minutes here in 14 games than any other stop in his career. He has the freedom too to take whatever shot he wants being a go-to scorer.

Yeah, it probably helped our offense but it hurt him as a player developing because it was not playing to his strengths as a player.

Dmo was league's better than Dwight in the post, he should have had more post ups than Dwight and Dwight should not have had any. Why?

Because it plays to his weakness and it made Dwight look a lot worse than he actually should have been here...but hey, they seemingly promised to try and make him into Hakeem so they had to give it a shot.

Wood is ALSO used as a floor spacer but he also does everything else. Dmo was just a floor spacer. I get that he wasn't as 'good' but I think having him play to a weakness destroyed his confidence and made him a worse player. Yeah, it was good for Harden but it was bad for Dmo. I know the reply will be "Well then Harden is just better..." but I think that's why people enjoy watching the team because it does not feel like it's being forced to be molded around one player's skillset.

and yes Spacing is the most important thing but you don't have to have 5 guys around the 3 point line to achieve it.

Also, there are long 2s and LOOOOOOOOONG 2s, no one likes a two pointer that could be a three pointer if you stepped back a foot, and you saying "The only thing that would be different is he wouldn't be shooting long 2s" is kind of the point.

But yes, we do have a lot of ISO between Wall, and...Ego

The point is, players have to get into a rhythm, sometimes the shots that are 'bad inefficient' shots get them into that. You saying "He can shoot those floaters if he's efficient' isn't it. He should be able to shoot those floaters if he thinks its what helps his game, if he thinks that's what the defense is giving him, he's a good enough player to have those liberties.

You know how I know you guys are biased?

Because you're fine with Wood shooting the 3 even if he's not even all that efficient from it. Why? "Because it spaces the floor and the defense has to come out to him."

    True. Good.

So why get in all a tizzy when people say teams should ALSO take mid-range shots so that defense also has to account for those too?

Well, fun is an opinion. I'd say the team is more fun to watch, sure, but that doesn't mean anything. Outside of that one CP3/Harden year, that was fun...but other than that it was more of a James Harden show and it's fun watching the team and wondering who's going to lead us tonight kind of thing...but it doesn't mean anything truly.

At the end of the day your offense/defense stats really don't matter if they do not correlate into wins.

You can say MDAs offense was better but they only became an elite team when their defense was also top 10.

This team #22 rated offense is good enough for them to get wins right now, that's all I care about at the end of the day.

I do think that being reliant on three-point shooting is risky and can bite you in the behind if your team isn't shooting well that night.

I like fighting for first seed and being contenders. Fun is for the off season and beginning of season. I want wins and results. Let's see how Silas's system works against the juggernauts before anyone makes any decisions.

BRO SHUT UP....It's not even remotely the same. He has Joel Embiid, not Chuck Hayes or PJ Tucker.

They are not playing the same as Rockets did. I don't see the offense revolving around Simmons.

Third, Harden has two stars now who didn't even need his help, If they were anything less it would be silly. They are suppose to be 1.

So in short it was a failure....I don't see no championship here recently. I see a lot of inflated stats for Harden though....does that make you upset? oh well. Morey played ya'll for a fool and you guys love him for it. "bUT hE gOT uS hARdEN!?" LOL

personally, these games are a lot less stressful because of the removal of 'time' factor

the past few years w/ the anticipation of harden's window closing, every single game was literally a race against the clock -- jockeying for a top seed in hopes of increasing whatever possible chances of harden getting a ring before his prime expires

now that the pressure is off the games seem easier to enjoy

But saying MDA/Morey offense was reliant on ONLY volume 3's is disingenuous.

Layups, FTs as well as volume 3's are what Morey/MDA espoused.

The best offensive minds in the NBA believe in this very same philosophy.

    Including Silas.

    It is modern basketball.

The midrange is a nice change up but it will win you nothing. It is the most inefficient shot in basketball for a very real reason.

GSW, Cavs, Raptors and even the Lakers are all proof of this.

What? How's it it a terrible point? You think his minutes with volume increase somehow changes what Im saying. He's taking the most threes of his career. Silas wants this to be a 5 out system and for that to happen he has to be a threat from 3. My dude he's literally taking the same amount of threes as Brook Lopez? Do you think Dantoni would have him rolling less than Brook Lopez and have him shoot more threes than him? No, ridiculous.

This is also a really weird point, if you are go to scorer, you are going to be getting harder shots not easier ones. Dantoni and Morey are about efficiency. I dont know how many times I have to say this.

He didnt do anything after he left the Rockets.

Yea, agreed. But that's likely because of Dwight and no Morey. Joel is posting up a lot in Philly.

Okay? Dmo not being able to post up in Houston didnt destroy his career man, that is crazy. But you do have to be a threat to shoot and you have to make the defense respect your shot. That's litearlly what 5 out is and why its so important. We are layups and 3s. Saying Woods would somehow not be more efficient with Mike Dantoni is crazy or that he would somehow be taking more threes than Brook Lopez is also crazy. Dantoni loves the pick and roll a lot. Dantoni has more plays than just dudes standing around. You have no basis to say Woods be shooting more than 5 3s a game here with Dantoni.

Yes, you do, that's what 5 out is? You run plays off of that spacing.

No its not, those stupid long twos he takes are bad shots. Those floaters he has, he would be allowed to shoot.

Yes we do run a lot of iso, we should cut them out.

And he wouldnt have those liberties here, because? All that he woulndt have are those stupid long 2s he takes. I really dont get the argument here. Yall really think Morey and Dantoni were these stat nerds who dont know basketball. Cmon man this is crazy talk.

He shoots 37% from 3, that is pretty damn good.

Because mid range does nothing for us.

Why do you respond with personal attacks when presented with valid responses to your arguments? That’s actually what village idiots do. Just saying.

    You are not an idiot.

The Rockets still shoot a crap load of 3's.

And more inefficiently than previous seasons.

So telling me to shut up is a valid response?

    And not a personal attack?

If you are going to take sides, at least take the right side.

And you taking up for a side in the wrong doesnt say much about you either.

Preaching unity and harmony after an attack is no deterrent.

There has to be a reckoning first before there can be healing.

You misunderstood. Saying shut up isn’t a personal attack because it doesn’t make a personal judgment. I wasn’t saying “it doesn’t say anything about you, personally ” in a derogatory way. You always think I’m out to get you. Just trying to keep the peace because we are just bullshitting about basketball.
