The last thing i want to think about when it comes to food is that it had a life before I eat it. This commercial did nothing to entice me into eating chipotle, in fact it did the opposite.

I agree, I think it shows that it is more conscious in how it treats animals, but in teh end of the day, when people learn that Pigs and Cows are as smart and aware as dogs(meaning they have feelings, connections towards their families, relationships) than that might turn people off, although its the truth. They talked about how a mother cow was stressed out after ging in the maze and could feel death/slaughter coming and the baby calf started stressing and making distress calls etc...to think of any one doing this type of slaught that we criticize asian cultures for and these animals are just as inteligent and sensible is eye opening.

That said, the way these big countries fill them up with things we would never eat and have them live in a factory like setting, more conscious raising is a step in the right direction. I still eat meat, although I could and have done well without it, but i'll only eat some, grass fed organic beefs, both conscious and really my main concern is my health and ont throwing in crap i don't know about.

Its not so much leanness even just that what they put inside their body and you eat them also effects you, not just in leanness but both in nutrition and overall health. Did you know the diseases like mad cow have never, ever been shown on a grass fed beef? that shows the unnatural effects to the diets that the companies use to make it more e fficient and its not what the cow is used to and the results are catostrophic, not just for their lives but for those of us who eat it.
The facts are really all there as is the common sense towards it. I respect people's rights to eat it, but I wouldn't care if it was my wife, some random poster, or michelle obama preaching to eat right, I don't do it because of them or some ego to eat crap because I can. I do it because of the way it effects in me in a variety of ways and decided to take charge. And techincally if its about being told what to eat, we are forcefed, culturally, socially, and through marketing the trash that we all(myself included before all this) ate and it became 2nd nature but its not our natural taste, its developed. I think its worth a look at, but everyone has their freedom of choice but I am glad I went this way and couldn't go back. Infact every person who has committed to it that I know has not gone back as you can't beat the feeling of health long term. I mean literally I haven't been ill for ages, etc. Its pretty impressive and its not a special diet, but moreso a natural diet and I eat all I want. Worth it for me.

I've started doing this as well, though I'm not so much concerned about the health aspect.

I've always felt that if you can't deal with the fact that a living, sentient creature died in order for you to eat meat, you should probably consider vegetarianism. That steak or pork chop didn't just pop out in a styrofoam and plastic package, it came from a dead animal.

I don't believe it's morally wrong to raise an animal to be killed for food, but I do think that it's wrong to mistreat the animals along the way.

Found a burger place in Austin that has burgers with grass-fed beef. This was my first time trying grass-fed beef and it taste so much better IMO in comparison to other beef I have tried. It might be a placebo effect, and I'm not really looking to argue the science of it or anything, just sharing some info.

US farmers feed their cattle with green waste (chicken manure) and green tripe (raw offal, eg brains, guts, etc). From a health and safety standpoint there is a benefit to organic meats.
