My best friend found out who his real dad is only a few years ago. His dad is half-black, and you can tell by looking at him, but with my friend, nobody even suspected he had some black genes in him......you never know.
http://www.mixedfolks.com/athletes.htm this is a good site has all the athletes and entertainers derek jeter > rick fox> half black half white doug christie> james blake>
i find it interesting that practically all of the mixed are almost always black father and white mother. the only exception may be roy campanella
I don't know about Deron Williams, but the rest of them are black/white mix, I am pretty sure (I live in the Sacramento market so I am surrounded by King's fans).
I think its funny that people make such a big deal about Tiger Woods being African American when his Dad was only half. Tiger is half Thai and if you ever been to the coastal areas of Thailand, you would see kids that look just like him except darker.
Black women getting disrespected. I know a couple like that, and he told me that he doesn't like black women, due to their attitude. (I think he was put in jail from the tattle of one of his past black girlfriends). His current wife says she liked the bad-boy aspect of him....and he used to be a bad boy. Now, he's the one of the nicest guys I know.
It is not as derogatory a term as many may think. I grew up in Southern Louisiana, and this is a slang term for Cajun. It has nothing at all to do with the racially insensitive "coon" that you may be thinking of. I remember when we moved to Northern California and once my wife mentioned this term and people's jaws dropped. They had never heard it and thought it was racist when in fact, most of my family in the Lafayette, Louisiana area would say they are "Proud Coon Asses". It has nothing to do with being black. If you already knew this, forgive the intrusion into an otherwise already strange-enough conversation.
Why is this even considered interesting? And while I'm here, don't forget... Sam Cassell --> half black, half ET
If Mariah Carey wasn't half black, then would I wonder if she would still be on BET and all those hip-hop music stations... On the other hand, I'd have to admit, I also thought Jason Kidd was pure white. I guess some people just can't really tell races apart well!
I remember when I was younger and a friend of mine described Jason Kidd as "Coffee". By the way, Monute Bol, half white.
