That's funny. It's the first time I've seen a player's WIFE create chemistry problems.

finley would be a good choice for us, but the money he wants is a huge problem

There aren't going to be too many cap friendly teams after the free agent signings. Maybe NO and ATL. I guess they will get all of the special FA's if they go just for money. It is for sure we can't pay very much.

Finley could still play some valuable minutes off the bench for a contender. he started most of last year.

i think you'd be out of your head to want allan houston over finley. houston's far more one dimensional and i don't even know if the guy can even run anymore.

In regards to Finley or Houston... we are looking for role players. Role players. If either one of those guys signed with us, their role, regardless if starting or coming off the bench, would be to play about 20 minutes a night max. The other minutes would be split between Wesley and Barry.

If that is true... their age and health isn't as much as an issue in such a limited role. In fact... they might excel with reduced minutes.

The guy we want who would be cut is Jalen Rose. Jalen can still play, but he is more mature, smarter. If he would come here, that would cement our team as a favorite.

It's amazing how much time we spend discussing a possible "freebee" and sometimes dismiss them outright because they're no longer great or as good as they were.

In the NFL you can just cut guys that just might make the Pro-Bowl because they don't do guaranteed contracts the way the NBA does. They worry about their own team and it's improvement.

I don't think Finley's right for us, but if he come's cheaply hell yes introduce him to T-Mac, Yao and Stro and let's see what happens.

I still think it's a better investment to go younger now, and win championships in a couple of years. Finley, right now, wouldn't interfere with that too much and he's not exactly garbage.

he isn't angry with the mavs for cutting him, he isn't that type of player. houston will be an interesting possibility, but i see him returning to phoenix or maybe to chicago.

on this team fin would provide good leadership for james and head assuming he accepts a backup role, which he would face if he does stay in dallas. he's a class act guy and the team lucky enough to get his services will be all that much better.

I wouldn't be mad at a team that is STILL paying me even after letting me go sign with someone else.

Phoenix is probably a more comfortable spot for Finley than Houston with his buddy Nash. Plus, they're just as solid as a contender as us if not more. I really don't see him coming here, nor do I see him as an iddeal fit with our desire to get younger, quicker, & more athletic.

I'd like Theo Ratliff if he gets cut by Portland.

After this 06, Deke might retire so Ratliff can be our backup C as well as playing minutes at the PF position. He's exactly what we need. Juwan will be expendable.

it's not crazy at all. if houston can get Finley on the cheap, then they have to get him. he is the third true scorer that the Rockets need, and his defense isn't bad either. he can still start, and he won't have to play heavy minutes. he doesn't have a career of being injury prone; actually, he's very durable. although ankle injuries...Grant Hill comes to mind, Yao too. anyway, in his prime, he could do it all and was a top 5 off-guard. he's far from washed up. he's just coming off of his peak years and still has a lot of ball left. i'd say another good 5 years, although he will have to evolve his game.
he's been a starter his whole career, so i don't see him going to phoenix (JJ, Marion), SA (Manu, Bowen, Devin Brown), Detroit (Rip, Prince). Miami and Minnesota are candidates, but if you ask me, Houston is a contender even without Fin. he's already guaranteed max money for the next 3 years, so why not go for the team with the best chance for a ring where he can play an integral role?

Let's face our whole back court from last year was just a box of bandaids after losing our starting back court for TMac. None of the players we had were real starters or maybe they used to be starters. Thanks to CD and/or JVG we were able to pull a wonderful chemistry together. IMO we have no creditable PG or SG on the team to start in our back court. If we sign Damon Stoudamire he would fall into that same category as a stop gap for a year or two, but a combination of he and MJ would give us a better bandaid than last year. SG is wide open and vacant IMO. Wesley was okay, but we need an upgrade. Head is an unknown. Barry surpassed expectations, but can he repeat? The doctor's report is still out on Sura, and even then he is a bandaid. Tmac cannot continue to carry the load he did last year. We will lose him temporarily or permanently to injury if we put him through the another season like we did last year. So, all told we will need a good SG and a back-up 2/3 or two.
