Hilarious. Liverpool are overpaying for Andy Carroll to compensate for the loss of Torres.

Obviously they net some money out of the whole process, but the bottom line is that they'll suck even more when all is said and done.

That said, Drogba AND Torres together? Looks like Chelsea is about to become a problem again.

    Two new updates from Soccernet:

Chris Murphy: CARROLL UPDATE: From Liverpool's website: "Liverpool FC confirmed this afternoon that Newcastle United have accepted a club record offer for the transfer of Andy Carroll. The
club have been given permission by Newcastle to discuss personal terms
with the player, who will now travel to Liverpool for a medical.

    Chris Murphy:
ADAM UPDATE: Now we are hearing that Liverpool are sending a car for Charlie Adam to bring him back to the club. Spend spend spend!

    =====================================================

I'm thinking maybe Dalglish will be looking to play 4-3-3 with the new acquisitions.

Besides Carroll and Suarez, who else do you see playing up front? Ngog?

I see Kenny lining up with Suarez and Carroll up front, with Gerrard, Meireles, Kuyt and Adam in the middle.

Who knew NESV would be so willing to spend? It's so nice to see us spending again instead of snapping up 'bargains'.

I see Kuyt playing up front as a poacher along with Suarez and Carroll. I've always thought that he looked more playing as a striker because he isn't a very good wide player.

    So it'd be:

    Reina
    Kelly Skrtel Agger Johnson
    Lucas Meireles Gerrard
    Kuyt Carroll Suarez

Replace Adam for Lucas (if that deal works out)

You're right, Kuyt isn't great at crossing the ball, and he did use to be a striker, but since Rafa brought him in he's been using almost exclusively at right wing for both the club and the Dutch national team. This has continued with Hodgson and Dalglish. His activity on the pitch would make him a great poacher, but I just don't think the manager is going to use him there.

He was confused. Based on his username, he thought it was Liverpolo.

Chelsea has spent $50M on Torres and now supposedly another $30M on David Luiz. Damn.

I like the signing of Suarez for Liverpool, but paying $35M for Carroll is probably 10M over his true market value. He's having a good season but he's not that good. Then again everyone seems to be overpaying.

Goodbye Torres, I hope your career at Chelsea is full of disappointment.

Ironic that Chelsea will be playing Pool in their next matchup. I hope Torres fails hard. He's one hard tackle away from marrying the bench.

As for Andy... I don't know what to say. Pool just bought a Lexus for the price of a Mercedes.

I admit I have never been a fan of Torres. I'm not ecstatic about the signing of him to Chelsea but if it improves the team then I will get to like him.

Torres-Drogba is going to be hectic.

More like 20mill over Carrolls market value. It's known that the market value of English players is horribly inflated in the EPL and this is another example. I believe NESV got overexcited and should have sat on the Torres kitty till the summer. Maybe get a better deal then than overpaying on transfer deadline day. Horrible bit of business imho.

Man all kinds of wrong here... Carroll never wanted to leave NC and has stated that he was forced out when their owner saw the cash Pool offered for him. I hope he'll learn to play his heart out in a red shirt. You can see his forced smile with his new manager KD.

Suarez - Carroll - Kuyt up front looks like a 5-7th place team on the table. NESV could've looked for a good CB with that Torres money.

How on earth are Liverpool going to be worse of with Carrol than if they didn't have him? We are 7th despite Torres sooking and in general being **** all year and have replaced him with Carrol and Suarez...

Also who exactly has Drogba ever made a better player by working with them up front? They are both selfish players so it will certainly be interesting, both have poor form when it comes to working with other strikers. Half of Chelsea is about to enter the retirement home, I doubt United, City or even Arsenal will be losing too much sleep over it... Chelsea are on their last legs and I really can't see them doing anything(tipping Spurs will even take 4th off them), one has to remember too that it would be a miracle if they get a full season out of Torres at any stage.

I'm sure when Carrol notices there's 3 times as much money coming into his bank account he will quickly get over it. It shows what a poor system football has... the fact Torres can do what he did and that a club can do to Carrol what they did(why was it said he asked for a transfer though?), then you have Adam who wants to leave after being told he could move if a top team came knocking... I would call Liverpool, United and Spurs top clubs but they screw him over and he has to stay.

The team is OK, CB I think I can live with unless we got a really good deal, Agger wants to stay now and he has looked better each match since hes been back and you have to remember the Greek was our best player nearly early in the season. There is 6 good teams now as opposed to 4 and I think Liverpool with these changes in manager and team has suddenly clung back onto the other 5 and is clawing its way back up as opposed to slipping down into the rest. The fact NESV spent the Suarez money before the Torres **** went down means they will have a chunk to spend in the summer, we really should be making at least 6th spot by years end.

If I were Mike Ashley, I would really watch my back or even move out of Newcastle. The guy is the Premier League version of Sterling.

Newcastle was on the rise this season after a season relegated to the Championship... and what does Ashley do? He fires the coach (a good one IMO) and pisses his good players away. He doesn't even put a single pound of that money he got from players into the team or to find new talent.

The only difference with Newcastle and the Clippers is that the Newcastle fans are fanatics. I wouldn't be surprised if he receives death threats (deservedly so) or even worse. Good luck in finding players who are willing to play for the club... also, LOL and Stephen Ireland.

With that said, I hope Carroll works out for us.

Already has equaled Carlos Vela's goal total for EPL career (for a Mexican) in six months when it took Vela three years with Arsenal.

Threatening to take Rooney's spot up front along Berbatov. Just a phenom with the ball and a speedster who finds ways to get the ball past the defenders and keeper is Javier Hernández.
