I don't know what it's worth to anyone, but that speech seems to have impressed Colin Powell as well.

    And we agree again. :)

I think this election will be an all nighter. I think I'll have to call in sick the next day.

Of course you haven't seen him shoot himself in the foot. You had your blinders on when he was busted for choosing to attend an American hating racist's church for 20 years. I guess good judgement isn't something you look for in a president, sadly.

He only made that speech after he was forced to after being busted for associating with that American hating racist.

    Sorry for feeding the trolls, but it's important to debunk this whenever possible;

Just so those who may still listen to T_J understand, it's nothing but libel that has been dismissed by all concerned. And even if he had attended a religious school, do you honestly believe that in the short amount of time he lived in Indonesia as a young child, that the religious ideas taught to him remain a fundamental aspect of his psyche some 40 odd years later? Honestly?

What about attending an American hating racist's church for 20 years, and not repudiating Jeremiah Wright or leaving the church? Think those ideas are a fundamental aspect of his physche?

or was he absent in church that day, also?

Just wait till the GOP turn on the same spin machine that got Bush up to 50% approval.

There are stories out today about how George Soros, the mad Hungarian, is funding a $40mm smear campaign against John McCain. So I don't want to read about the libpigs saying how this is a one-sided affair. The problem for The Lib is that because of the liberal positions and stances (anti-troops, hate America, thumb their noses at religion, etc), the attacks against them stick. We'll see if the mad Hungarian's stances stick to a TRUE American hero like John McCain. It's not enough that Soros started Moveon.org, the web's largest anti-American hate site that is Barack's #1 fundraiser. Oh no, that's not enough, it's time for another $40mm of partisan liberal, dividing smear ads. But of course Balack is the candidate for uniting America. Riiiiiiight. Typical libpig hypocrisy.

Again you aren't making sense, and most likely on purpose. Soros is not part of the Obama campaign. Furthermore you are basing this on what you call "stories". Nothing of the sort has even happened.

And as far as divisive politics, you don't have a leg to stand on.

PS - Sorry if your feelings were hurt after the torture thread. I'm sure it had to torture[/] you after having so much egg on your face given the premature victory dance you did.

And why hasn't anyone mentioned that Wright was a FORMER MUSLIM HIMSELF?

    http://www.tnr.com/politics/story.html?id=a74fca23-f6ac-4736-9c78-f4163d4f25c7&p=8

From Wright and others, Obama learned that part of his problem as an organizer was that he was trying to build a confederation of churches but wasn’t showing up in the pews on Sunday. When pastors asked him the inevitable questions about his own spiritual life, Obama would duck them uncomfortably. A Reverend Philips put the problem to him squarely when he learned that Obama didn’t attend services. “It might help your mission if you had a church home,” he told Obama. “It doesn’t matter where, really. What you’re asking from pastors requires us to set aside some of our more priestly concerns in favor of prophesy. That requires a good deal of faith on our part. It makes us want to know just where you’re getting yours from.”

After many lectures like this, Obama decided to take a second look at Wright’s church. Older pastors warned him that Trinity was for “Buppies”–black urban professionals–and didn’t have enough street cred. But Wright was a former Muslim and black nationalist who had studied at Howard and Chicago, and Trinity’s guiding principles–what the church calls the “Black Value System”–included a “Disavowal of the Pursuit of Middleclassness.’”

I can't wait. This is why I want Hillary to finally get out of the way so the big show can get started. This campaign will be one to remember.

I know that the religious teachings given to me as a young child have stuck with me my entire life.

There are plenty of studies that indicate that a person's value system is shaped early in life.

I do not believe that Sen. Obama is a bad guy or that he himself hates America. I just think that your specific rationale here does not necessarily hold water.

I don't know. When I was kid, my parents would send me to VBS. The adults would lock the doors, keep us from leaving, make us worship the Christian flag, call us sinners and fornicators (I didn't even know what a fornicator was :( ), and generally scare the crap out of us.

When I grew up, I never went back to a Baptist Church, worshiped their God, or adopted their values.

My Christianity is very much a reflection of my spiritual journey post childhood and is informed greatly by my exposure to philosophy and theology and a wealth of secular knowledge that I had no idea existed when I was a kid.

But can you say that in no way did those teachings shape you, not even one iota?

Of course not... but their major influence was to turn me away from Christianity in a big way for a period of my life... a period where I read and thought a bunch about things. Then I got married and we started going to my wife's church and I had to square the circle, which was easier than I expected it to be because the experiences I had in my wife's church quickly changed my view of the church from a bunch of lunatics to a community I felt a part of... That's one of the reasons I sympathize with Obama... I suspect he and many others have had similar experiences.

    Hum....

Now why would Soros do that and donate over $50,000 to one of McCain's own organizations the same time?

    does not compute...

[edit] And anyway Freedom's Watch has 6 times more money to unleash on the democratic nominee, so your feigned outrage is amusing.

God damn Jeremiah Wright! I wonder how God would ever forgive Jeremiah from such transgressions.

Word on the down low is that Obama made Jeremiah Wright who he is today. Obama wrote Jeremiah's sermons and built Jeremiah's church. Is it any wonder that Obama with his extensive madrassa training in his youth would seek out another Muslim as an opening move in his plot to take over the world?

Maybe because being a Muslim isn't a bad thing, and most people have the good sense not to care whether or not Wright was a Muslim.

    Why do you care?

Sorry, but this can not be left un-responded to. This is an anti-Christian smear right here, folks. You tried to disguise it as a personal experience, but this is a smear against Christians.

They locked you in and kept you from leaving? Really? So did they KIDNAP you? Were you able to escape your CAPTORS, like a run to freedom in Escape from Sobibor? Did they make you say "HEIL CHRISTIAN FLAG"?

You make me sick. What a bunch of ridiculous fabrications and exaggerations. Did it ever dawn on you that VBS is in large part a day care escape for the parents? They don't want you to leave because they are responsible for your upkeep during those hours of the day. It's not to falsely imprison you, you clown.
