Ok am I missing something. Is Bonzi, not in the same basic shape that he was in every year since maybe his rookie season? And if he was in such PATHETIC shape, why on gods green earth did JVG play him for two games. The "oh my bad, I shouldnt of rushed him along" song and dance is about as pathetic as JVG's ability to handle young players, and big offseason acquisitions.

What is it with JVG. I mean seriously. Look at who he has alienated and pretty much dogged here in Houston.

Barry. You cant tell me for one second Barry didnt feel slighted over last year.
Francis. Yes Francis maybe a bonehead on the court, but he had zero complaints till JVG got a hold of him.
DA. Call it what you will, but he had exactly ZERO time to impact his game.
Stro. See DA. Why is it, Stro as the Four can put up better numbers then Battier, but Battier is ESSENTIAL.

And now Bonzi. Jesus enough already JVG. We all understand your a hard ass already. Get over it and let the Rockets play some freaking basketball already. Its time to let JVG go already and try something new. Before we ruin all free agent possibilities of the future.

    As for this comment.

"In the last eight games, we're 6-2. That's where I want the focus"

Someone might want to remind JVG that with TMAC, and Yao healthy this team is in next to last place in the division Right now, and would scrape into the playoffs. Not exactly blazing it up out there JVG.

This whole mess is 100% JVG's fault. Bonzi should have been playing from the 1st game of the season.

Not sure if that "personal reason" has something to do with Thanksgiving party.

Right.... JVG has not said anything wrong about Bonzi or required anything more than anyone else on the team.

Also, don't forget it's Bonzi decision to not travel with the team

I agree, the problem here is JVG's EGO.

His ego is so big that he can't even refrain himself using the F** word while shouting at YAO during one of the timeouts. I guess it was the SA game, YOA
missed a defensive assignment, JVG called a timeout and started shouting at YAO with the repeated use of F** word. Most of the NBA coaches don't talk to their star players like this, at-least not in front of the camera.

This dude shouldn't be taking one spot in our team. Unlike JH, he is tatally a nut.

Where did you pull that big hairy statment out of?
As of right now, are the 3rd in the division. A game behind Nok, tie with Dallas, but wins the tie break. There are only 5 teams in the division and 4 of them are really good.
It's really not that desperate. We have been doing ok. Tmac is adjusting. Yao's dominating. Scrubs are hitting treys. Could have been better, but I am with JVG on this one, if Tmac and Yao has to work their butts off to be in shape, why should Bonzi be any different. The guy most like will opt out next time, why comprise standards with a short term rent and send a bad message to the rest of team.
Bonzis was just an unexpected late offseason add-on. He wasnt part of the plan, and we can win without him.
Now having said this, I think Bonzi will get a last chance from JVG to show if he can contribute.

JVG is throwing another player under the bus by not saying anything.

I would be shocked if Bonzi ever plays for the Rockets, the will probably trade him to an eastern conference team....hopefully with Juwan Howard attached.

    You may add Griffin too.
But one question: Did any of these players become better after they left Rockets? (Barry shouldn't be in the same group, he wasn't having an issue with JVG)
I'd say JVG made all the right decisions about these players.

When a player has no desire to be good, don't blame the coach.

won't get much value out of trading bonzi unless he's packaged with juwan otherwise

    bonzi for fred jones (tor)

bonzi + lucas for diener + brokeback (magic)

bonzi + lucas for ross + korolev (clips)

No. He was at 240 lbs in Memphis, began at 210 lbs with the Kings (or so he said), and apparently up near 270 to start this preseason.

So, no, he's not in the same shape.

Perhaps because he was proclaiming himself ready and JVG wants to give him a dose of reality?

Apparenly some people don't live in a reality-based world.

O RLY, EVERYONE? That's why McGrady and Yao have worked to get him out.
So, he felt he was slighted because Rockets released him when he could still play.

That's why he decided to retire even after he got offer from Denver.

That's why he called JVG for advice right after he got the ESPN gig. Because JVG alienated him.
Ask the Grizzlies about how Francis doesn't complain about ****.

582 minutes of sucky 30-something % shooting as a Rocket, following 3000+ minutes of sucky 30-something % shooting as a Blazer over the last two years. It was absolutely way too early to decide he had nothing left.

And DA sure corrected his shooting once he got to Miami.

1300+ minutes of Stro also isn't enough time for him to prove himself. You are right, we should keep him around and play him over Chuck Hayes. Brilliant.

Because we are not talking fantasy basketball? And even in fantasy ball, please check Stro's production this season.

You are right, Bonzi should play even when he's fat and guys blow by him. Playing Bonzi into shape and not alienating him is more important than trying to win games.

awesome, someone not talking out of their ass. thank you. bonzi is hella fat and clearly not in playing shape, he would hurt us more than anything else with his sluggishness and rust. besides, if bonzi comes back we wont be able to see big mins for billy, and then we'l all suffer the wrath of the billy manlovers :p

my thoughts exactly. why else would he point out the achievements of the team in the quote below...

jvg looking on the "bright side of things" when discussing bonzi... well... it doesn't bode well for bonzi. it's just so unjvgish-esh or something.

/my contribution to a conspiracy theory

Bonzi and Sura's contract + our 2007 first round pick for Mo Pete.

Bonzi, Juwan, and Sura's contract to Seattle for Rashard and Damian Wilkens. Would you trade Novak with the others to make this deal happen?

Bonzi, Juwan, and Sura's contract to Portland for Raef and one of their young players (probably Juan Dixon).

Same three players to New York for Jamal Crawford and Jerome James. (If NY expects us to take on JJ's contract, they gotta divvy up Jamal.)

Same three to Golden State for Foyle and Pietrus and one other young player, perhaps that young PF. (Still don't know if that would be enough to take on Foyle's worst deal of the century.)

Would you give up the same 3 and our first rounder if we could get Dalembert and Korver? I might....even though Dalembert is severely overpaid. But I think Philly would laugh.

Of course, there is the Clippers. Bonzi and Sura's contract plus our first rounder for Maggette. Clips get a cheap Maggette for the rest of the season and playoffs plus a first round pick for Maggette and cap relief. I think I'd do this if I was both teams. Unless Denver is willing to throw in their first rounder with Joe Smith to get Maggette.
