Interesting. When I make this comment, Im generally roasted. I don't disagree with you. In our species, we immediately eliminate an individual who turns on its own species (murder) or corrupts/harms/defiles its innocence (children). Rehabilitation of such people are highly debatable. Once a person hits puberty, they are technically an adult, albeit with no experience as an adult. This is why we tend to protect them against, what amounts to spawn killers... People who take advantage of vulnerable and unexperienced people. This includes sexual aggressors, contractual commitments and other shameless degenerates like tobacco and alcohol. Society does a poor job of protecting them against ideologist and other degenerate behaviors. Generally society gives young adults about 4 years to figure **** out before burdening them with responsibilities. Well put together young adults figure it out earlier and tend to do much better in life and in some rare occasions, come bolting out the gate. The young adults who still struggle after the 7 year grace period almost always grow up to be straight ticket voters.
Nothing about changing terminology has anything to do with not prosecuting legal adults who try to have sex with teenagers (13-18). So I don't even understand the point of this discussion unless it's in bad faith to create a narrative that this opens up legally being allowed to have sexual relationships with minors.
Yeah. nobody here is trying to suggest crimes against minors (or adolescents for that matter) should be acceptable. The types of people who target each of those two tend to be very different.

I’ve been lurking in this thread and am only participating because I was mentioned and am killing time. Yes I very well could be considered “woke” because even just now I made an argument defending allowing children to transition. I could be considered woke because I’ve defended trans people including their ability to compete in the gender they chose. I also will respect their pronouns of choice. I’ll admit personally to having made the mistake of not addressing someone’s by their pronoun of choice and rather than getting defensive when they were upset about it apologized for my thoughtlessness. to me those aren’t ideological issues merely showing deference to someone else as I would like them to show deference. For example as an Asian American I get annoyed when someone insist on “knowing where I’m actual from” . I could also be said to not be “woke” because I believed “Defund the Police” was not just stupid but damaging. I felt that those rationalizing the destruction following the killing of George Floyd were also doing harm. Frankly there were several posters here who implied I was a racist for how hard I was criticizing the rioters and those that I saw as excusing them. I could also be considered not “woke” for that I think the term “LatinX” is ridiculous and simply a made up term that has no basis in the Spanish language and addresses a problem that doesn’t exist. I also think that those who do stunts like glue themselves to NBA courts or throw soup at art are just attention whores. For me though I dont really care or want to be lumped into some tribal zero sum contest. I have little interest in saying mine side is winning or bashing the other side. I mean there are posters I probably agree with more than I do other posters. It doesn’t mean that I’m on their side and have to stand up for them otherwise the other side scores. For example I get lumped with JuanValdez, Major, Nook and Bobrek as “the moderates” but I’ve had some big disagreements with all Of them. Nothing wrong with that i don’t take it personally or say that we have to stick together to defend “The moderates”. I don’t think they care about such things either.
