RA coached Clyde Drexler once and they went to the finals together. JVG took a team of overacheivers to the finals too. They've done a lot more with less than what the rockets have given them. Apparently, Tmac and Yao need to be surrounded with a bunch of HOF's just to get out of the first round. Hell, without a real superstar we can't even beat the Ginobli-less, Parker-less spurs.
The coach has no proper system for a team with super stars, maybe he has no experience with them just as JVD had said before. Macgrady seemed a little lazy and Brooks shoot too much and Yao even couldn't get the ball. As a center, what can he do if he can't get the ball? After one season I think Adelman doesn't know how to use a powerful center who can dominate the paints. To suit Adelman's PLSD system, what about trading Yao for an average center ?
i hope im wrong but it seems RA is not the right coach for three stars in sac town he had bobby brad miller and christie and didn't do bad with them but now that he has stars his system just wont work with this team
He played 3 stars with tons of mins at the beginning of this season. Played Yao around 40 mins at first 3 games? Really crazy. It means he got no solution even with such a talented team We got most talented players in a decade. However we played ugliest game ever last night Coach should be reviewed
That still is a block in a clutch moment. And Duncan is older and smaller than Yao. I was hoping Mutombo would have taught Yao about timing. All guards have to do is outstretch their arm around Yao with the ball and score. Wow. I have nothing to say about this. Little reminder, he coached the Kings back in their day. Remember the offense that had every fan in the league start rooting for the Kings against the Lakers? Remember? We are not going anywhere with Tmac and Yao not stepping up, and only relying on Brooks.
lol i guess clyde drexler, tim hardaway, chris webber and ron artest wouldn't be considered superstars that adelman has previously coached?
where were you jokers when we were winning 22 straight? did he forget how to coach over the offseason?? nothing is going to happen...we're 9 games in to an 82 game season. by the way...artest hits that last shot and none of you are having this discussion this morning.
I don't agree with your last sentence. Even if Artest got us the win, Tmac and RA are still inexcusable.
RA's offense is like the run and shoot in football, you need system guys to run it. Earl Campbell may have been the greatest runner of all time, but there is no way he could have lined up in the R&S. I don't think Mac should have gotten the ball on all of those possesions but I dont think Yao should have either. I believe we were in the penalty. Yao being under the basket and missing makes the chance of a fast break skyrocket. Fast breaks lead to short posessions and fouls on the other end, which is exactly what you do not want with a lead. A lot of people want to blame this on the coach, but lets look at the boneheaded plays at the end by our players. 1) The three second call 2) Aaron brooks driving to the lane on the 2nd to last play. Wow. Aaron had a wide open baseline jumper. He had about an hour and a half to shoot the ball, but instead decided to take it straight at Tim Duncan. This is a rookie mistake. As a professional you have to have confidence in your shot and Aaron was afraid to take the big one. When he finally saw Duncan, he went up weak and got stuffed. The BIGGEST mistake by Adelman was having Artest inbound the ball. He is the worst passer on the whole freaking team, and if he is inbounding it they dont have to guard him. Stupid.
Adelman never coached superstars? Webber was an MVP candidate and Drexler was Jordan-lite for over a decade. Anyway, I was one of the guys who was livid when JVG was let go but Rick Adelman is a great coach. No question about that. The team isn't winning because the players, especially the big 3, just are not getting it done. Who knows? Maybe Rick has passed the game by. The game certainly has not passed him by if the best players on the planet can't learn to pass and move without the ball. He can't go back and teach these guys what they should have learned in high school or college (now we're on to something). What he can do is adapt the offense to get what he can out of these guys. That will take more time. That's assuming the players are listening to him as I imagine they are with perhaps the exception McGrady but that's just a guess. Mark my words, this team will rattle off 25 wins out of 30 games at some point soon.
Yes, find a coach in a NBA that is going away from traditional centers and playing more small ball. Remember that before Brad Miller, Rick Adelman did coach Vlade Divac, who isnt dominant, who isnt fast, but he made the most out of him. His offense concentrates on ball movement. The past few games that we've had the ball movement wasnt spectacular. And no, Rick Adelman's offense is nowhere near close to 'run and shoot football' which im assuming is run and gun type offense. He'll have more fast breaks than what JVG would want but his offense concentrates on rotation, ball movement, not fast breaks, alleyoops, and constant running.
Chill with the 'Jordan-light' comment. Drexler was consider the better all around player until they met head to head in the finals in 1992. So, for more than half of his career he was considered on par or better than Jordan. Check yourself.
Guys come on it is obvious there is some work to be done but Ra is doing it right. Just think about it he hasn't conducted that many practices on this brutal road trip so that he can keep his guys with fresh legs. Their record should be better and it will as the chemistry improves. Adelman lets the players figure things out for themselves. After all we are talking about vets that are making millions you got to give them some slack. The reality is they are underachieving in a lot of areas but they are also 1st in the division and tied for 3rd in the conference. The best is yet to come.
Clutch BBS Timeline in a 6 year span. JVG 2004-2005 : OUR COACH SUCKS JVG 2005-2006: Injury hit year guys. JVG 2006-2007 : JVG is not a championship coach, he just has no offense. RA 2007-2008 first half : RA failed RA 2007-2008 second half : OMG RA is the best coach eva RA 2008-2009 first few games : OMG SHIP RA OUT HE SUX. I think Clutch needs to make a "Spam section". I remember some forums have this, so that any unnecessary or flame only threads will have it's place... in the right place.
had artest hit that shot we would have been 6-3. it is beyond ridiculous to be nagging and b****ing about a coach who has his team 6-3 after the first nine in an 82 game season.
