I need to clarify my original post that started this tread... I don't think that trading YAO is the best idea. But I think that the idea merits some thought. Perhaps, although I like it, the GS trade proposal isn't a good fit for us. Are there other trades out there that we would make if we were to "think outside of the box" and humor the idea of trading YAO? ROX TRADES YAO and change INDIANA TRADES Artest and O'Neil I am interested in hearing peoples ideas.
Could I say you just want get rid of Yao in whatever way. In this case your SF3 will remain here for another five years or more.
Look, unless you throw in Tim Duncan/KG + something good, no one's interested in any trades involving Yao Ming. Well, maybe JVG would listen if you threw in the entire 97-98 Knicks squad
No... I don't want to get ride of YAO. He is my favorite part of the ROX. The key word here is "ROX". I love the team and would trade away my favorite player to make the team better. I hope that we can ride YAO to years of greatness. But I also think that we should be open to offers that would make the team better. Some of you don't like to play the game. The game here is "who would you consider getting in return for YAO if we traded him".
I think that we should consider trade Yao next year if his potential is proved to be not that high by palying another year. Right now, we should trade other players to make the team better instead of trading Yao, because he is a big man, a big man is hard to get.
i see what you're trying to say. the salaries will not work in the above trade, but yeah you're right in that there are some trades involving Yao that would make the Rockets better. heck this above trade is a steal. there are some people that would trade Yao for J. O'Neal straight up. I'm not one of those people, but you're also throwing in Artest. Francis Mobley Artest O'Neal Cato wow... tough nosed defensive time that has good individual scorers. chemistry may be an issue but on paper that's better than this year's team. still not championship caliber though. i my mind the championship caliber trades that we can make almost has to involve Francis. i.e. for TMac or Brand. otherwise maybe we can get Webber for less and have Francis, Yao AND Webber. that last one is a short term solution though. meanwhile... 2000 posts. i think i will not post for a while and spend some time in the secret forum.
5 guards running......in a JVG team??? hhmm.............. entertaining: no doubt winners: prolly not. while the Kings and Big D are fun to watch, they don't win....... I like the creativity you exhibit, but I'd rather win then be entertaining. I'll watch my Rockets if they play ugly JVG ball (which does work when given a chance) or if they play "first one to 100 wins"-ball (which has yet to be proven works
it's not that we, rockets fans, wouldn't trade Yao but i think the idea of giving up a CENTER that can score and defend well is hard to swallow. sure using Francis as trade bait is always the norm but it's easier to have those proposals is because a good guard is easier to find than a good center. but to entertain your idea: My criteria(s) for trading Yao 1. Has to go to East. If we are even pondering about trading Yao, we need to send him to the East. I REFUSE to see a possibility where Yao matures and dominates us 4 times a season and thus taking away any championship hopes. 2. Of course, we need to fill our roster. We need a two-way PF and a PG. And a player that can score and/or defend well. 3. Make it as reasonable as possible (even for a bias Rockets fan like myself) With those 2 thoughts in mind: Toronto Receives: Yao Ming Mo Taylor Future 1st Round Houston Receives: Chris Bosh Alvin Williams Donyell Marshall Why Houston would do this: to entertain the idea of 'thinking outside the box', we trade Yao to fill our needs. this will garners us -a decent PG. seriously, the thought of having a top flight PG is out the window b/c of my CRITERIA #1. there aren't that many good, TRUE PGs in the east. I think Alvin Williams will do a more than decent job. -our need for a decent PF. Donyell Marshall answers our call for a PF. He can score and ain't that bad of a defender. Albeit, at 6'9", he's a small PF. but that's where... -Chris Bosh. He's the key to the deal. I think he has more talent than Kwame/Chandler/Curry combined. At 6'11", he can play the 4 spot pretty well and can make the 15 ft jumper. I would also like to see what he can do at the 3 spot. This could cause mismatches because of his height and he's not slow for a 6'11" guy either. A starting lineup of: C-Cato PF-Donyell Marshall SF-Chris Bosh SG-Steve Francis PG-Alvin Williams Key Backups: Jimmy Jackson, Cuttino Mobley misc: we take on Alvin Williams contract while dumping Mo Taylor's contract. Why Toronto would do this: -why not? Toronto has a big Asian Community and pairing Yao up with Vince along with Jalen Rose SHOULD be lethal in the East. -Mo Taylor fills in at the 4 spot that Marshall leaves. Another scoring option on the floor -a future 1st rounder. Starting lineup: C- Yao Ming PF- Mo Taylor SF- Lamond Murray SG-Vince Carter PG- Jalen Rose Do I like this trade? not very much but i'm just 'thinking outside the box'
eww... that trade stinks for the rockets man... Toronto, meanwhile becomes a contender in the East. i think we should close the box... since it's pretty hard to get fair value for Yao.
Another outside the box idea: HOUSTON TRADES to UTAH YAO, Spoon and Pike UTAH TRADES to HOUSTON Kirilenko, Harpring and one of their first round picks this year HOUSTON TRADES to GOLDEN STATE Stevie, MoTaylor GOLDEN STATE TRADES to HOUSTON Dampier (in a sign and trade), Troy Murphy and their first round pick HOUSTON LINEUP PG Berry (signed as a free agent)/Wilks SG Cat/JJ SF Harpring/Boki PF Kirilenko/Murphy C Dampier/Cato
Don't feel offended, but I think trade Yao to the UTAH JAZZ is the dumbest possible idea by a rocket's fan.
I entertained the 'out of the box' experience but meanwhile back here on earth, the Rockets have needs that need to be addressed seriously, so putting silliness aside, trading YAO would be a big mistake. He is the center of the future for the franchise.
