A sharpened, short steak knife. Looks funny typed, lol, but it will do the trick.

If you're asking a basketball forum about where to make an incision, you might want to rethink things and reevaluate your situation. ;)

Seeing as though you are going to do this, no matter what anyone says, you have to make the incision over the soft spot, you also need to break up all the loculations within the wound, there are multiple small pockets of puss you need to open up to completely clear the abscess.

So you let your two dogs fight, then you killed your pit bull and now you are going to perform surgery on your black lab with a steak knife? And you are bi-polar, smoke weed, and all that other cook schizt too? Amazing. Definitely time to re-evaluate things.

I didn't kill my pit bull jackass, I got rid of him for the welfare of my black lab that hasn't done anything to anyone except love and lick on them. Letting them fight, ha, that's laughable. I'd die for my dogs as they would me. You don't know how much I love Milo(the pit bull), man. Was crying for hours when we were contemplating euthanizing him. Luckily, my mom said she would take him in. Re-evaluating things is laughable as well, going to school, have a part-time job, and am getting married in a year to a lawyer. All the while dealing with anxiety and depression. A lesser person couldn't juggle what I do everyday. I also have the sense to not make sweeping generalizations about someones life. Also, it's not surgery, it is a fairly easy procedure that I have spent a week researching and applying hot salt water compresses to his abscess to create a real soft spot conducive to lancing. So you can lick my nuts and crawl back into anonymity because I'm still standing here without pretense.

Did I post this in the GARM? You've been here long enough to know that this is a largely educated board. I responded to a member who has had experience with the procedure, I didn't ask where to make the incision in the OP. You need to reevaluate the things you type within the context of a developing thread.

You may want to reevaluate your reply to a BBS legend. That's #6 you're talkin' to there. :p

My dog would never bite me. The respect I am given from my dogs was earned. Dogs are loyal to the end. Ethically questionable research has shown that a dog will let its owner separate him limb from limb without any aggressive resistance. I'm relieving him of pain through some pain and as I stated before I'd do the same to myself.

Hilarious, I go out of my way each time I go in and out of my house trying not to step on the ants that have taken residence on my porch.

This is a strage statement. What? My dog won't even allow me to clean out her ears. Never tried separating her limb from lim tho. Good to know.

I wouldn't do this myself, but then, this isn't exactly brain surgery either. Best of luck. As mentioned, I would just be sure to very actively monitor the situation afterwards. You absolutely want to avoid infection at all costs, as that will just end up being a much larger headache for you.

In regards to your pitbull, if your mom "took him in", then, depending on where she took him in, it is possible (and likely) that you did kill him. i would question if the pitbull had shown any violent tendencies before, had gotten into fights with your lab before, etc. Are they both neutered? Was there food involved in the fight? In some cases, without the absolute best of situations (which requires a lot of money, time and people effort), a violent dog is a violent dog and very very difficult to reform. In most cases, though, it is more the situation the dog is in then the dog itself. Not an attack on you, just noting some facts.

Thanks a lot guys. I didn't get much sleep because of this. Because of this, I found a youtube video of some girls "lancing" a guy's gigantic zit on his back and it made me sick all night. Apparently Google knows what videos you've seen lately and puts 'em out there for you.

Apparently, it really smelled too... now I'm getting queasy again.
