A 1GHz PPC feels roughly equivalent to a 2.8GHz P4. In many cases the PPC benchmarks better a 3GHz P4. From everything you've said, the speed is plenty fast.

    Kilgore,

One more thing. When I was looking for a Powerbook, I noticed that Amazon was giving a $100 rebate on some of the models. You may want to see if they still are. I'd buy online just to save money on taxes and maybe get an additional rebate if it's still around from Amazon.

Thanks for the heads up. I definatly plan on buying online to save on tax. I will hunt around for the amazon rebate but have gotten burnt on rebates in the past. Also thanks for the tip on the refurbs. As of now the Refurb 15" model is really appealing and is a more computer than i was planning to get for less than the standard 15"model.

Don't think there is a way around the backspace/delete dilemma. The one thing that still astonishes me about the powerbooks is the automatic lightup keyboard. ITS SWEEET.

Also one thing I can't make work with my Mac some of my old webcams( it is Mac compatible), but I just used the ilife or whatever it is, and that thing is sweet, I talked to my parents and it was like they were right infront of me, and the video was synced with thevideo...

forward delete = function (fn) + delete

There is something else I should note in this thread. I used to be on Apple's highest level of tech support and that delete key was the only question that regular end users didn't answer for you. If that doesn't show you how user friendly a mac is, I don't know what else to tell you.
    One other piece of advise:
    BUY the APPLECARE PROTECTION PLAN
it is well worth the money.

You can also just program one of the buttons on your mouse to handle that for you if you like. Then, NO keystrokes. :)

I don't mind the changes as much as what they charge for them. Holy crap - $100+ for every minor version upgrade. Of course I guess you don't have to upgrade, but ... :)
