I think he got shut down because of the underage drinking then he leased the building for a couple of years, but now wants to open it back up.

Come to think of it, I don't ever remember being carded there. I was probably 19 or 20 then.

Dakota, I've had a restaurant/bar theme idea that I have been tossing around my head for years, basically because of lack of capital. I'd be up for discussing it, but of course I would want a minority share of ownership.

I work down there and park across the street from where you're talking about every night. The homeless shelter is almost right there so it's pretty ghetto. I don't really remember seeing the bar that is there have many people there.

I like the idea of a little sports bar. You've got to give it the feel that those that know about the bar are cooler for going there instead of the places on 6th. They've got to tell their friends "Let's not go to (place on 6th) let's go hang out at the place around the corner that no one knows about."

Then maybe you could build it up that way. Cheap drinks when you first open to draw people in. I remember that we would almost always plan on starting at the Library because they had dollar beers. Too bad that I'm mostly out of touch with what's going on down there, which is strange since I work down there 5 nights/week.

    Good luck.

I used to go there when they had Indian parties there. It wasn't a bad place. I just never went there on a normal day becuase it wasn't as cheap as regular 6th sreet bars and I was a po.

I went to Austin 3 months ago (first time in 3 years) and was shocked how every bar there has a theme. They are all so new and nice.

Is this bar a business venture in which you are planning on living off the income or is it just a hobby where you would be happy breaking even?

Service industry entrepreneurship is a tough business.

yep, need to lower that on down to 19. sending 18 year olds overseas for armed conflict but cant let them drink...which is discussion for another time, place, and forum (D & D)

I've heard its pricey to obtain a dance license? And brings in more potential trouble to deal with...and its too bad for bar owners that cheap drinks is one of the qualifiers for them, when it sometimes can't be done. maybe regular to "high" priced drinks might keep away some of those poor, struggling underage people from coming in.
