The wedding was for 315 guests, open bar, two bands, a seven course sit down dinner, cake, photographer, videographer, flowers, wedding coordinator, DJ, reception hall, church, tux, dress, the list goes on and on... We made sure that we went and got the best deals possible, and even then the price tag went up. Of course there's the stress of having debt, especially in this economic climate, but thankfully, I'm still gainfully employed. Knock on wood, I can keep a steady job and have the wedding paid for in three years. Sure, it's a lot of money, but again, I don't regret a single penny of it. That day and night was magical. One of the best days of my life. For now my philosophy is that money comes and money goes. When I'm on my deathbed, what money I have or don't have in the bank isn't important, it's the memories I've made. Like anything else, this outlook is tempered with reality, and of course I save and am conservative with my expenses where possible. Besides, I've gotten much more cynical as I get older, it's one of the few things left about me that is anywhere close to idealistic and romantic.
Wow, that is a lot of money but if your wedding day made you happy then that's all it matters. Congratulations on your first kid. Thanks for the advice.
