So, ya wanna get nostalgic, old man?

Maybe you'll remember such things as Gopher...Kermit...Archie...Veronica...

(assuming, of course, that we're talking about the internet, not the pre-internet bbs networks)

These youngins nowadays don't know what it was like back then. Had sisters that always used the phone and we would argue like crazy over the use of the line. Getting knocked off when someone would call. Trying to exploit AOL trials, and a bunch of other free ones like Lycos, Netzero, Juno, etc. (dial-up was pricey). I remember downloading a demo for a Simpsons PC came took 23 hours, a DEMO!! I think it was only like 50 mb or something. Had to use Kazaa, Napster, Limewire to download one song that took an hour each. Memories of the overbloated AOL brower, those 9 or 10 dialing steps every time you just wented to get on.

I remember some kid once cooked up a geocities where he talked anonymous **** about people at our middle school....along with photoshopping pictures he had of us from yearbooks, etc....this might've been the original facebook.

I once spent a good 4-5 days downloading a movie from napster while my parents were out of town in India.....they came back 2 weeks later, were pissed that they weren't able to call home because the line was always busy.....were even more pissed when they got the phone bill the following month.

That movie was good, but totally not worth $200.

AA, netzero, netscape, and my geocities website. Life was so simple.

It's not that long ago. Youtube came out about 2005-06, then, the streaming p*rn sites followed.

The Geocities sites, certainly. A lot of them were crap but each one was unique.

Same thing with game fansites. Now it's all blog and wiki.
