Great one. Progz n punters were like a lifestyle for a certain group of people. The absolute worst kind of people. But still... Y'all also miss Xanga because y'all are nerds.

Haha awesome! I'm going to add being able to go into a chat room to hook up with random college girl. Also that feeling you got from Napster, "you mean I can get this song for free and its only going to take an hour!" Also AOL profiles was the bomb for finding the single ladies.

What exactly is the "original Internet"? I'm seeing stuff like AIM and AOL? I remember when people were saying AOL killed the Internet.

I post this link every couple of years on here, but here's a 20 year history of "first posts on Usenet" that Google has. Some very interesting posts on there. It's one of my favorite links on the Internet :

I got banned from Napster because of the Dr. Dre thing and I thought my life was over. No more free music. :(

    Then I found AudioGalaxy

    Then AudioGalaxy died. :(

That trivia was awesome! I remember when they had Yak terminals at Astroworld. Good times.

When we could still email .EXE's

    BlueMountainArts.com (greeting "e-cards")

    Odd Todd

Some language and images are NSFW:
    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5dMFM-Jqji0?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5dMFM-Jqji0?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Try IRC, but on an orange and black dumb terminal from college... people from around the world kept saying: "Hey, open another window, too--"... "another WHAT?"

In the U of H dorms, the pop ups on the Geocities pages would kill the browser on the old pre-iMac Apples.

Do not miss frames as a site enhancement.

Do shed a tear for Fametracker forums and regular updates, and for what TV Guide did to Jump the Shark.

I miss the genuine sense of excitement going on to chatrooms, now I would just feel like a creepy dork.
