Going to Memphis on the back end of July with my wife for her conference. Never been to Memphis and looking for things to do and see as well as eat some great food there. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
I think that there was a thread on this not long ago. The 2 things I'd see are the Sun Records Studio and Graceland.
Beale Street - very similar to Bourbon Street in New Orleans Lorraine Motel/National Civil Rights Museum - site of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. I really do not recommend Graceland. A complete tourist trap.
city is disgusting. beale street is extremely overrated, but assuming you're going to go there, be sure not to stray so much as a block away in either direction.. gus's fried chicken is as good as advertised though, if you're into fried chicken.
