Going to Liberia, Costa Rica next week. Any recommendations? Also, will my T-mobile phone work there? Is there anyway I could get a hotspot device so I have WiFi at all times? Thanks in advance!
Ohhh, a city in Costa Rica called Liberia. Learn something new every day. Thought somebody going to liberia sounded weird. LOL
Guanacaste has the best beaches in Costa Rica. Yes your phone will work if you tun off airplane mode, but it will be pretty expensive. I would call your provider and see if they have any plans or something like that for when traveling out of the country. I was there for a month and i turned on airplane mode the whole time, only using wifi. Most restaurants etc will have it. As for your hotspot question, im not sure, my gut feeling is that yes it will work ; although again you might be charged extra or something.
I was there in March, but didn't hang around Liberia, as it's supposed to be a dump. We stayed in Playa Hermosa at Hotel Villa Belmar, about half an hour away. Very cool spot right on the beach. The owner is really cool and took me and some of his employees on a bar hopping drive all over town. T-Mobile works right off the plane--no additional charges for data/text. Not sure about phone calls though.
Just realized im flying into Liberia but staying in papagayo. Probably going to arenal for a day or two. How fast was the data? As long as I have texting/data I should be fine.
The food will be terrible. "Italian" and "seafood". I hope you like black beans, rice, tasteless Italian and bland chicken. Surf. Coke. "Mi falta". "Puta Vida". Gamble. Surf some more. Go fishing. Cook the yellowtail and dolphin at your house. We called the Barcelo Hotel Casino "going to work": drank the place out of Bourbon within 2 weeks and made a few hundred a day playing Caribbean Stud Poker.
Awesome, but why even bother with a helmet? I mean if the rope snaps, it is not going to make much difference there. DD
