It means that the people are willing to overlook these accusations if the candidate matches their beliefs. Cognitive dissonance at its finest. Moore could probably still win if he decided to go around and kick puppies for fun.
Agree. It says nothing about the left. Their candidate is, by all evidence, a decent, accomplished, intelligent, and lauded man, qualified for the job. He just happens to have a "D" by his name. It's one thing to claim that Hillary is flawed and so Trump squeaked by -- that's part of the story. But when you elect, not just a child rapist, but an incompetent and previously fired, 18th century throwback child rapist, instead of a decent, accomplished, intelligent and lauded man, then you've shown your truest political colors. And those are: party over country, every day and twenty times on fake-ass, fake-Christian Sunday.
There have been plenty of decent, accomplished, intelligent, and lauded men and women who were qualified for the job who were passed over by horrible candidates of either party. Just look at Bill Clinton. What it says to the people of Alabama is that despite the above, his affiliation with the party of BLM, Clinton email servers, Benghazi, Fast and Furious, IRS scandal, Al Franken, John Conyers, and on and on......means they don't trust any person of that party.
I honestly thought you were one of the more rational conservative leaning posters here. That post was pretty pathetic. I think you know it deep down.
Good Lord, who would’ve thought that binary choice decision making could make people so sympathetic to pedophilia. The state of affairs is exhausting.
I've already made my feelings clear on Moore. He should have stepped down weeks ago. Don't get it twisted. I'm talking about the reaction the people of Alabama have had to outsiders like Kimmel sticking their nose in. The. Left. Just. Can't. Help. Itself.
These people have it within their culture to hate anything that is loosely associated with 'liberal' without any merit. They are brainwashed. It's called tribalism. How can you not understand this?
"I am voting for the Child rapist because __________________" Honestly there is very little you could put in that blank that would make the statement ok Things like. . . . Because the other guy is a child murderer . . .. maybe but those lines are very narrow Rocket River
"Sticking their nose in"? This is a senate race with international attention. Are you suggesting the only people that can comment on it are Alabama citizens? In a basketball forum focused on political debate? Funny, you say you think Moore should step down, and then complain when others criticize Moore and the people that support his election to the U.S. Senate. you don't see a contradiction there?
When there are offensive child molesters being supported in Alabama, there shouldn't be a problem with other people going there, protesting, mocking, and speaking out against it.
I'm watching the piece right now and I have to agree that this might end up helping Roy Moore. I understand this is Byrd's shtick to play an extremely over the top enthusiastic character but him interrupting the interviews and the speech for purposes of barely undisguised mockery just feeds into the idea that Moore is the victim here of outside forces. If extremely awkward humor was the goal then yes this was successful. If damaging Roy Moore's campaign was the goal then it might've done the opposite.
Serious question here, as the Russian ties to Trump get more solidified, does this hurt candidates like Moore who so closely aligned themselves with Trump? My guess is the people of Alabama are so disenfranchised that they will vote for a pedophile who is aligned with a traitor solely because they choose to ignore the mountain of evidence in front of them.
National Repub leaders urging Moore to step down has no effect on Moore's chances. A national late night comedian telling Moore jokes has an effect?
Remember, the people who are voting for Moore feel like it's no longer OK to be white, to be christian, to be what they are. They don't see a pedophile, they see a man who bucks the system. Jimmy Kimmel is an "elitist" to them, even though he probably has more in common with them than Moore does. When this elitist weighs in, it further polarizes them and urges them to vote.
Considering this was done at a Roy Moore rally and a church for that matter it likely could play into the view of Alabamans of Hollywood coming in to mock their values for entertainment. It probably just feeds into the victim mentality that Moore is wrapping his campaign in. One other thing. If the goal is to poke fun at Moore and his supporters they've already done enough to keep late night comedians busy for the next few weeks without having Byrd go there and add to it.
Well if the values include supporting the child molester, then they should be mocked, and I'm fine if they realized they are mocked for those values.
