    No sh*t...

To make the playoffs this year would be HUGE...

They need to have more team meetings or just agree to disagree...

The only thing that matters is to start winning some damn games...

Well damn, I guess if you compare our situation to the situation we were in at the championship parade, things are pretty bad. So basically what you're saying is that any time a team gets a big win, rather than appreciate it how good it was, you're going to hold them to that standard every single game. You are aware of the concept of STREAKS, right? You know, sometimes you play good, sometimes you play bad? Sometimes you play over your head, then reality hits? You've heard of this, right? You know, if you compare our situation now to the situation we were in after the first game, when we were 0-1, it's actually pretty amazing.

I have always been worried. I don't follow wins and losses alone. I follow what I call the Pat Riley stat. He looks at road wins versus home losses. It has a better tendency to adjust for favorable schedules. We have always been the 8th seed when you look at that stat, and now we are the 9th seed.

If our road wins versus home losses ends up .500 at the end of the season, then your record is .500, too. That is a mathematical fact. For every game above .500 that record is in the end, your real record will be 2 games above.

Based on that, we have never been on pace to be more than 4-6 games over .500...or a 44-38 team, at best.

sad to consider, but it was there to see in the win/loss stats all this time.

about the lakers game...i blame three terrible calls in the final minute of overtime that not only allowed the lakers to force ot but also put yao on the bench for the second ot.

about the season...sure, i dont think were gonna make the playoffs, and sure, thats going to honestly suck, but think of it this way: if we make it, there is NO WAY we wont get slaughtered in the first round by dallas or sacramento. to add to that, i dont think we deserve the playoffs.

next year i KNOW we will make it barring injury. i just know it.

however, it would be nice to make it this year.

Really? I thought that we have 30 games left we play Phoenix tonight and LA plays the Jazz. We win and they lose and we are again up a game 29 more to go that simple. We play them again in our house a chance to put space between us or make it up and to grab the season series that simple. The season is not over until we hear the last buzzer.

We might not make the playoffs, Minn has come on, Portland is playing great, The lakers are playing better, And the Jazz just keep winning, but streaks can end. Phoenix is not that much better then us, we can prove that tonight, and you never know what will happen in 30 games. If we can go 19-11 or 20-10 we can go to the playoffs that puts us at 45-47 wins and in good shape.

Sure we could go 11-19 or worse 0-30. But if we do and we give up like you are saying then we have lost the year... if we fight and scratch and burn for the wins then we have made progress and that is all we can ask for.

And I hope the Rockets NEVER THINK the Season is over until game 82.

Last night game was hard to deal with, I hope the rockets have enough in the tank for tonight. Go Rockets!

If you truely think the season is OVER, why are you wasting our time and your time whining about each lost?

To make an analogy, let's not start jacking up 3's or throwing in the towel when it's only the fourth quarter in a close game.

I never said anything about this season ... I was making an observation that overall, in the bigger scheme of things ... future perhaps? ... things aren't that bad. Right now, we have SOMETHING to feel good about, the wins against the quality teams ... how can things be worse? We could have lost ALL the games to Utah, Minny, Sac, LA, Pho ... be under .500, the team could be falling apart, cliques forming where players are alienated, a great coach resorting to shifting blame on refs for a failing year ...

Playoff bound teams find ways to win games that they SHOULD win, you are absolutely right, they do. Again, they'll start playing with that killer instinct. With the exception of the Lakers in the West the past few years, I don't think ANY team has developed that killer instinct yet. Sacramento comes to mind, but they fold in crunch time, Minnesota? Dallas? I'm talking post-season ... not regular season.

And you're the one expecting them to be a playoff team, I wasn't. I am actually pleasantly surprised that we're even in the running for a spot to play in the post-season. As I said in the first post, I was actually expecting the team to self-destruct, following all the pre-draft posts that Stevie was having heart-attacks with the thought of playing with Yao, Cuttino questioning whether the Rockets should trade the first pick for Odom, concerns that MoT was seriously overweight ...

So we won't make the playoffs this year ... if we make it as the #8 seed, we'll only be furthering our misery by watching the Mavs totally destroy the Rockets, not in 3 games ... but 4 games of pure hell! :D

Come on, lighten up ... it could be worse!

You are right. Things aren't that bad.

AND the Rockets were screwed. We should have won the game.

Also...we have a nice group of players.

    We didn't play that bad...just a few mistakes. :)

    OUR SOLUTION: Ray Allen. ;)

Watching the Rockets is kinda disappointing but kinda fun too.

If you really cannot stand them, do not watch the games against crappy teams. Just watch the games that are entertaining.

Oh yeah? This should be put to a vote!

Then the Rockets fall to ninth place and some will still say 'Things aren't that BAD.'

    Frustation...Angst....

    The losing must stop.

Someone's got to take the blame. Something drastic has to be done.

I'm one loss away from being a lost Rockets fan. Watching them aint fun anymore.

Great post, rockit. That's kind of what I've been trying to say, too. But you said it much better than I have.
