Anytime you see a lowercase thread with the title, "insert lame cliche phrase here" you know it is denniscd. If denniscd is a optimist then the 8th seed should be the last thing we think about. I would be dissapointed if we don't get the 6th seed or better. New Orleans has absolutely owned us the past couple of years even before they were any good. I would much rather play San Antonio somehow in the first round but I actually think we will be fighting for the same spot with SA when it comes down to the end. Pheonix will be the top seed anyways.

This is soooo unfounded it's ridiculous. Dennis needs his own thread in which to keep his musings, so they don't proliferate over this entire forum.

Nice, nah I'm not calling you lame. I actually like cliches. I like your optimism man so keep it up, the board can use it. Don't you think we will be better than the 8th seed?

Disagree, West and Paul are the two biggest Rocket killers. West looks like he's in a gym by himself when playing against any of the rocket bigs. We all know the CP lights rafer up like the 4th of July downtown. Plus Rafer can't go back at him because defense takes all his energy.

Call me crazy (come on, do it. do it now!), but I really want to see Utah in the first round. Definitely not the best matchup for us, but I REALLY want to take them down!!! Amazing how their long term players that built that franchise (Malone, Stockton, Hornicheck) are long ago retired, but I still can't stand that damn team!!!!!

But I'm getting ahead of myself. At this point I'm not looking at matchups - I'm still looking to get IN TO THE PLAYOFFS!

Rafer has had some of his biggest games against Chris Paul. Paul gets his against Rafer (of course he gets it against nearly everyone), but he gives up big games to Rafer. Paul is probably the second-worst PG at stopping penetration in the league.

Is that kind of like easily winning a triple overtime game by 1 point?

    Scratch that...

I read it as we could easily win in a game 7.

knowing how we've blown 2-0 leads the last couple of times in the playoffs ... a four or five game series against the NO Hornets is highly unlikely... sorry to disappointment your optimism

Dumb comparison. Playoffs are playoffs and regular season is regular season.

Example, the Magic had largely frustrated the Rockets in the regular season and then the 95 finals came and the Tragically unhip got swept with an assist from Nick "the Brick" Anderson in game 1 to set the tone for the series.

In fact, all the teams the Rockets had to go through to get back to the finals the Rockets had little success against in the regular season but, sometimes teams just get hot at the right time!

You see a veteran team possibly rebounds to make it a series but, the Magic were a collection of mostly youth and when the snowball started rolling they could not stop it, plus the heart of a champion Rockets basically overwhelmed them.

So, yes the Hornets could get swept in the playoffs. It all depends upon their resilience and their tenacity. Can they handle the pressure?

The playoffs are full contact, largely no blood, no foul. Some teams thrive under the pressure and some wilt.
